  • NCAA FOOTBALL EARLY LOOKS

A Few game that jump of the floor at the Carpet.

    Texas State -13 at Navy.

Texas State is the same team that hung 55 points on # 22 LTech last week in a 62-55 loss. Texas State has no defense to speak of but the offense is there. This offense will give Navy fits to contain.

    Purdue - 7 at Illinois:

This line is totally inflated and deserves it's own thread.

Iowa State - 6.5 at Kansas.

Just what is so special about Kansas other than they play a spirited game or two this year?

Indiana + 18 at Penn State:

This Indy offense can move the ball just ask the coaches in the Big 10 18 points is just to good to pass up on.

I absolutely love Toledo now getting 11 at Northern Illinois.

Both great teams and absolutely no reason for this spread to be this high! I can see this game being within 6 or less, quite possibly a Toledo upset!

That is exactly what I was thinking with Toledo too.

NIU's schedule has been pretty easy getting to thier 9-1. Actually should be 10-0 but Iowa squeaked that one out in game #1, and we all know how much Iowa sucks.

This is for a share of the MAC west lead as Toledo is 1 game back. I hate line like this where the dog seems obvious but going to take a shot at +11.

Also, Carpet, I am on Kansas +7 myself. This will be a good game as both teams stink. If it were at Iowa State I would say the Cyclones roll, but being at KU, in a game that KU can win and they know it, I give them a shot at a SU win.
ISU is shooting for win #6 but with the way the QB's are playing, its a crapshoot. I will take the points all day with KU in what looks like a game decided by 3-4 and possibly overtime.

Like that Texas State pick a lot too. +13. I played it as well.

        Also like--

        Duke +14 over Ga Tech
Washington -20.5 over Colorado--weed is legal there now so the players have lost all the small motivation they once had in this dismal season.
        Indy +19 over Penn State
        South Bama +9 over MTSU
        Stanford +21 over Oregon
Baylor +12 over K-State--KSU is going to come out and squeak one by at some point. Line may be a little inflated on the road.

I am pretty convinced that on Mac games on week nights there is no way to cap them. Anything goes. Might as well flip a coin or play a blind over.

I have a feeling ND may shut out Wake Saturday and roll big. B Kelly has been in the press taking about the BCS system and sounds like he thinks they need a signature blow out win to get them in the top 2 discussion.

Florida State shut out wake 52-0 earlier this year and think they have comparable good defenses with ND being a touch better.

I am going to lay the 24 with Notre Dame after betting against them the past 2 weeks.

            ND 42-3

I have been on the wrong side of Notre Dame the last two. I really have no opinion either way on that one. Woodee I love your Rutgers pick and I am going to follow that one. I am leaning toward Wisconsin against the Buckeyes a little. I may feel stronger about some games tomorrow but as of right now I just am not too crazy about anything.

                Good luck!!

                    I was leaning to these:

                    Iowa State/Kansas over 48
                    NC State +17 at Clemson
                    Tenny +4 at Vandy
                    Baylor +13 vs K-State
                    ND/Wake over 42.5
                    Oregon -20.5 vs Stanford
                    LSU/Miss under 50

WS.. I know they are really good, but what in your opinion separates these Ducks from those in the past whom I have wanted to shoot out of the sky myself? I do believe this is a better Duck defense and I will say they are looking really good. Just wanted your honest opinion.

The QB, Marcus Mariota is a better runner and passer than Darron Thomas was! And the WRs seem to be improved also. TE down a little.

Defense is better but still a potential weak spot. We could not stop USC at all. Even Cal ran all over us for 3 quarters.

IF (big IF), we can get by Stanford, Oregon State and USC or UCLA, I'm hoping we get ND. K-State might run us ragged. Who's gonna beat K-State? I think USC will beat ND at USC. Does that let Bama back in if K-State loses one?

I'm not so afraid of Bama this year as last. I thimk last year's Bama team would beat this year's Bama team by 17!

                          Thanks Widestrides..

I don't think you are going to have to worry about Alabama at all. I think Georgia will beat them in the SEC championship. The SEC west the last two years was the best conference in college football hands down. I think what has made Bama look really great is the lack of competition in the SEC west this year. They weaker and in some case really ugly. I have never saw an Auburn and Arkansas team together be this ugly. Bottom line I like your Ducks chances this year although I have been in their corner in the past only to get burned.

                          Thanks WS..

I have thought it over and this is my top plays tomorrow:

Oregon (has nothing to do with this conversation)
                          Kansas st
                          Notre Dame

I just think the top three survive this week..

My upset special is in the SEC west:

Mississippi (LSU is not as good as LSU has been in the past and I believe Ole Miss will shock them tomorrow. It won't be a shock to me though. The Rebels will beat an over rated LSU team in a thriller..
