  • Illinois + 4 at Iowa

Illinois travels to Iowa to take on the Hawkeye's. Iowa is a 4 point chalk.

This is going to be a very difficult game for Illinois.

Iowa plays tough at home they have only lost 2 games this year at home. A 3 point loss to Michigan State and a 4 point loss to Indiana. Now that is some home cooking.

Iowa desperately needs a win to keep any hope of making it to the dance, they need this game more than Illinois does plain and simple.

What concerns me about Illinois is the break down on defense lately, last game Nebraska shot 50% from the floor vs Illinois. When a team shoots 50% against you there should be alarm bells going off.

Iowa is # 16 in the nation Rebounds Per Game 39.4 a full 5 more rebounds per game than Illinois averages . This area is the key to this game and Illinois is banged up inside down low.

Sam Maclurin 6-9 banger for Illinois is nursing an ankle injury depleting Illinois thin inside game.

White of Iowa will be a nightmare match up for Illinois down low. There is no way Illinois will dominate inside on Iowa.

Illinois has had no time to run a hard practice since the sleep walk game with NB which they were damn lucky to win.

After watching Illinois Coach Groce in a press conference talking about Iowa you could see the concern of the coach on how to play Iowa, it was written all over his face.

My numbers show Iowa 74 Illinois 70

Iowa is a team who is very unpredicatble, just like Illinois. At home they are tought, but at times, cannot figure out how to score.

I think I am going to tease Illinois up with a couple other teams, maybe Ohio State? This spread is dead on I think , like you mentioned. Iowa needs this win bad, but even at home I think Illinois makes a game out of it.

Its up to +4.5 as I type this.

Gun to my head, I'd take the better team, Illinois with a better chance to win SU or at least stay within the number.

Iowas guard gessel is out he is their best distributor, Marble will move to the point. Marble is a bit shaky when pressured.

Then we have Hightower as the referee tonight this guy calls more fouls on visiting teams than I have ever seen. Should slow Illinois down all by himself.

As much as I would like to see Iowa lose tonight I do not think they will, going to make a very small play on Iowa -4.0 (done) and -4.5

        Good Luck all

I gave watched both of these teams a lot this year. This game is kinda what you expected so far.
Neither team deserves the tourney honestly.
Both struggle so much at times but they look more line nit teams to me.

Illinois really baffles me! Beats great teams but plays down to the competition so much too.
Somebody has to win this slop fest!!

I think I nailed this game dead balls center played both the 4 points and 4.5 points.

It was clear coming into this game that Iowa needed and wanted this game. It was also painfully obvious the concern that the Illini coach had with matching up Intensity.

As called the inside game of Iowa caused Illinois fits. Illinois shot just 27% from the floor.

Here is a stat for you: Iowa blocked 44% of Illinois 2 point shot attempts (that is amazing)

I knew that Illinois would sleep walk into this game, that has been so predictable this year.

I disagree that Illinois wont make the dance if they lose the next game (loss tonight)

Illinois has beaten # Indiana, # 1 Gonzaga, # 10 Ohio State, # 18 Minny and beat Butler once ranked (who beat Indiana). That dance card will have Illinois playing maybe at a 10 seed

Yeah, they do have an impressive out of conference win tally, thatsd for sure. I forgot about the Gonzaga win which pretty much may cash their ticket.

My feeling is that Illinois players have a cocky attitude. They may get in, but if they only bring 99% intensity, every other team will beat them. Some shots that Richardson takes just stink. Fall-away 3's, getting stuffed by the rim.

I cannot put my money on them come tourney time but they will most likely get in if they can win at least 1 in the big 10 tourney, even if they lose out this year.

They will get bounced first round in my opinion....They remind me of Iowa State a lot. Can be hot and when they are hitting the shots, the intensity is there, if not, these guys pout and throw in a clunker!

I guess I care b/c I like both teams and know they have the talent right there to do damage if they keep their heads!
