  • Sportsbooks canceling bets.......

I have been betting offshore for years now and have run into a dilemma lately here is the facts.....

In the last 5 days I have put in and had e-mails or phone calls or both telling me my bet was no good and voided..

1.)I bet on $500 on Cleveland on the money line + 140 and received a phone call and e-mail saying the actual line was Clev -140 so they canceled it.
2.)I bet on San Antonio +4 over Houston same thing e-mail saying sorry the line is -4
3.)I bet a cbb game 1st 1/2 line st bon at a pick (this line was like -6.5 or higher)This one I did not get a call or e-mail they just canceled the bet and did not inform me.
4.)I bet tried to bet on Phoenix on the money line at -$200 when I asked for 1 dime (laying 2 dimes)the operator said sorry the line is -280 so I did not put that one in but it pissed me off.

Now a little bit about myself the reason I specified bet amounts was because these numbers are my normal amounts I call in.Nothing out of the ordinary granted I did bet when I thought the lines were off bt some I just thought were too low like #4

Note .These bets were at 3 different WELL KNOWN SHOPS for I currently have 8 accounts and have received payouts from all of them.

What are those WELL KNOWN SHOPS?

Could you tell me the names cause I believe my money will be much safer when playing with them.

You are actually very lucky that they ddin't throw you out.

You bet on some very obvious errors and you still want to cry for it?

      Yeah Krackman

You a no good theivin creep to try to bet into lines because they look good to you. Hang your head in shame. NOT!!!

I HAD A BOOK FEW WEEKS BACK THAT HAD THE WRONG LINE. They had the 7 point favorite listed as a dog. I wrote them and told them they had the line backwards and titled the e-mail bad line. Received a e-mail back asking me what are my specific issues and please be more concise.

I answered by betting into the line for $220 and got paid. I would of bet more but I didn't have the heart. Now two issues here come to mind:

1.If a book posts an "off line" and by chance they win ---do you think they'll notify you after that it was a mistake and refund your money?

      2. What would be the prospects of them---after you win-----telling you they made a "boo-boo" and it's NO BET?

The above play I made against a bad line I sweated in that fashion!

        KRACKMAN

WHILE WE'RE BASHING THE HELL OUT OF ACTION SPORTS ABOUT NOT PAYING AND BEING DISHONEST, YOU COME UP AND SAY YOUR PLAYING WITH EIGHT BOOKS. TRY TO STEAL THEIR MONEY AGAINST OFF LINES AND THEN COMPLAIN. THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH SHOPPING. LOOKING TO LAY 5 WHEN EVERYONE ELSE HAS 5' OR 6. BUT TRYING TO TAKE 5. GIVE ME A BREAK. MAYBE THE GUYS LIKE YOU TRYING TO ROB CAUSE BOOKS TO HAVE A HARD A**ED ATTITUDE TOWARDS A LOT OF LEGIT PLAYERS.

I'VE BEEN ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE AND THE MOST ANNOYING THING THAT HAPPENS WHEN TAKING PLAYS IS TO FIND SOMEONE TRYING TO TAKE MONEY OUT OF MY POCKET. IF A DUMMY TAKES ADVANTAGE OF AN OFF LINE OK. BUT A GUY WITH EIGHT LINES, SHAME ON YOU.

I WOULD HAVE CHASED YOU AND PUT YOUR BALANCE IN THE MAIL.

YOU KEEP PULLING S*** LIKE THIS AND YOU'LL END UP IN MY PLACE ONE DAY.

          amen devil.

shopping is one thing, complaining about not getting to keep an obvious error like the s.antonio example is ridiculous.

You're in the wrong here krackman, plain and simple. It's a shade short of shoplifting down at the corner store. In honesty I used to do it myself but I got a call from Carib one night asking me if I really thought it was fair to do and I had to admit it wasn't.

All you guys who think what Krackman did is wrong, ask your wives if they ever bought something at a store that was miss-marked, or if they did find something miss-marked would they inform the store before they paid. Whose fault is it if a bad line is posted? I am a BM in this business. If you have employees posted bad lines for play, get new employees, you can't blame a player for trying to take every advantage he can. I may be old fashioned, but if a player gets a bad line, that is my fault. How can you train your people to be more careful, if there are no reprecussions for posted a bad line? If all you have to do is cancel a player bet? I have never canceled a bet taken and confirmed by our clerks and never will. I don't see how that is an honorable thing to do.

                Hi there, Intheknow!

                Very funny!

You just issued a very BOLD statement!

I guarantee there are hundreds bettors out there like me which want to know what book are you working for?

If you can guarantee you will never cancell a bet no matter it will be a humun error or a bad line, I believe hundreds of bettors will be VERY INTERESTED to open an account at your place.

Well, if you will pay, of course.

Please tell me the name then.

                About Krackman, my opinion is,

I don't/won't blame anyone who would want to bet a bad line or on a obvious error, I did that before and may even do it again in the future and I believe a lots of bettors out there are looking for those errors everyday.

But the point is so clear,

once you got caught, and you come in here to cry for it.

It shows nothing but how stupid and naive as a bettor you are.

Suck it up and look for another bad line, OR better yet, try to learn how to cap the game and beat the books.

A lots of people drive 80 or 90 MPH everday, some of they will get caught. How many times you will hear someone got caught and cry it loud on TV,

"Fvck the government, they should raise the limit to 100."

I have been on both sides of the fence as well. And I am sure this is not at all "plain and simple".

I agree, since I have experienced it, that it is not pleasant when somebody takes advantage of your mechanical errors. But those are your errors, nothing more, nothing less.

THEDEVIL wrote "try to steal their money". Why? Is it Kracman who caused their errors? This situation has nothing to do with a theft.

I did not like the kind of people who specialized on bookies errors. But I think it is totally wrong to put all the responsibility on them. They do nothing illegal.

I'll tell you about one particular example. It happened in Kiev during Australian Open 1999.

Sports book "Marathon" made an error. They had Fang Li - Kuti Kis 4.0 - 1.15. One guy bet about $1000 on Fang Li. A cashier accepted bet, called the office and they changed the line to Fang Li 1.15 Kuti Kis 4.0. The same guy bet another $1000 on Kuti Kis immediately.

They knew him, I believe they did not like him, but he got his money on the next day.

You may say that "Marathon" were just inexperienced idiots. I don't think so.

I don't want to divulge which book I work with. It is on the cream of the crop list and Jeff will vouch for it. I probably didn't make it clear, but our book does not take online wagers. Maybe that is what you were talking about. We have never called a player at his home or work to cancel a bet we took and confirmed on tape with a clerk. What makes a bad line? Who decides? Is it steam that moves 2 points in 2 minutes? I guarantee you I am not alone in this. This canceling of bets is new to this business and was unheard of as little as 3 years ago. Why is it so hard to double ck your lines before you allow play on them, everyone has a Don Best.

If all this B.S. about canceling a wager after it is confirmed is "fair", then I want to hear from the player who is called or e-mailed to let them know that the real line is really a point better than they bet. I want just one lonely player to tell me about that. Just once, ever. Tell me that he got +240 when he confirmed +200.

What a bunch of crap. If a bet is confirmed, then it is confirmed.

I can also say for certain that the players make mistakes, too. I admit to betting the wrong side on more than one occasion. At least once I realized it, and had to lay the juice to bet the other side to cancel (no, the sportsbook wouldn't cancel the wager even though the game hadn't started).

This is the reason canceling wagers is not fair - it only applies to the books.

I DIDN'T SAY I WOULD CALL BACK AND CANCEL THE PLAY. I STATED I WOULDN'T BE HAPPY WITH IT AND WOULD CHASE THE CUSOMER AFTER I EITHER COLLECTED OR PAID ON THE BAD LINE IF I THOUGHT HE WAS SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW IT WAS OFF.

IN THE OLD DAYS OF PAPER AND PENCIL ONE OF MY CLERKS TURNED IN A TICKET READING MONT @
FOR 20 DOLLARS THE EXPOS WON AND WE PAID. WHILE LISTINING TO A TAPE LATER IN THE WEEK I HEARD THE PLAYER MAKING THE PLAY. HE DIDN'T BET MONTREAL HE BET JOHN MONTEFUSCO ACTION THAT LOST. I NEVER ASKED FOR THE MONEY BUT REFUSED HIS ACTION AS AN UNDESIRABLE.

EVERYBODY IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION THIS IS MINE. I PLAY TO WIN ON EITHER SIDE OF THE FENCE NOT CHEAT OR STEAL.

I DISAGREE WITH CANCELLING THE PLAYS BUT I DON'T CONDONE MAKING THEM

MAYBE I'M "THE DEVIL" S ADVOCATE

A bad line isn't a point here and there, it's a -300 that's posted at +300, or a -7 that's a +7 by mistake. Everybody knows its bad and there's no debating it. The question is whether it's okay to play it knowing that it was no good.

I agree with intheknow. How the hell hard can it be to double check the lines. I mean, hell, isnt that what their whole business is about - hanging lines.

However, I could live with a book cancelling a bet where they get a +7 dog reversed to a -7 favorite

But I am tired of hearing from posters about books who cancel bets where they were 30 cents off or so on a moneyline. I have even passed up on middles because I am paranoid of having a book cancel my bet and my ending up having a decision on some game I wasnt even trying to decide on. How crazy is that?
