  • #25 ILLINOIS vs Ohio State Mens NCAA Basketball

Illinois plays the Ohio State University
    1-20-08 at Assembly Hall.

    A Quick look at OSU

    13-3 record

    Big Wins

Beat Notre Dame at ND by 5 points Dec 6
    Beat Michigan at MI
Looking at the 11 other wins the buckeyes have
ran up the caliber of teams is not that impressive.
Sure they beat ND but Carpet thinks ND is overrated
    as usual.

Losses the 3, were a beat down by West Virgina
    at home 76-48
    Lost to Minny 68-59Road game
Lost to Mich St 67-58 road game.

OSU is strong inside, that is the boat load
of their strength on offense. They play a
Zone defense for the most part.

The buckeyes shoot at 68% from the line
    vs Illinois at 73%.

Ohio State has not proven itself to me yet this
year on the road, at home they are a different team.

    A LOOK AT ILLINOIS

15-3 JUST CRACKED THE TOP 25
even with a gut check loss to Michigan State
    Saturday.

Illinois bigs can play with the Buckeyes
and Mike Davis of Illinois a 6-9 true PF that plays
above the rim at all times will get OSU's attention.

Illinois plays a much better Defense than OSU
and Evan Turner of Ohio State has a real problem
    in turnovers.

Carpet thinks that Illinois will be able
to lock and load on the big 3's as they pick
apart that Zone that Matta the coach will play.

    FINAL FLOOR VIEW

This game will be another big 10 foul fest
as these two teams go at it down low. Illinois
is deeper bench wise up front, and OSU is better
    upfront on the starting end.

Illinois coming off a loss to MSU that
has shaken the foundation of a team, leading
by 9 only to not score again in the final 4 minutes
and lose. Can they come together and learn that
they need to play at another level as team ?

There is some good leadership on the roster
and excellent coaching from Bruce Weber, so
Carpet thinks a wake up call has been sounded
and Illinois must serve home court.

My numbers say Illinois by 6

    Good Luck all,

    Carpet
