    (397) Tennessee Titans at (398) New England Patriots 1:00 pm EST

    New England +1 (3 Units)

The Patriots played with a lot of heart last weekend being as banged up as they were. If not for some very questionable play calling on their last drive, they might have pulled out the win. They outgained the Redskins 387-250, putting up 281 of those yards through the air. They are still hurting this week but not nearly as bad and for them to be installed as home dogs doesn’t make much sense. Tennessee has played 2 very solid games in as many weeks and now is the time to go against them. Especially that they are in the second of back-to-back games and that they are favored in this one. With so many injuries to their defense and along their offensive line, the Patriots no longer can afford to be so wide-open and aggressive on offense. With 30 rushing attempts compared to 38 passing attempts in a come-from-behind effort against the Redskins last week, the Patriots' shift toward more balance with more power running should only continue this week. The Patriots are averaging 105 ypg on the ground this season and it will be a test for the Titans tough rush defense. The Titans have injuries of their own on both sides of the ball and lack a consistent big playmaker at both running back and No. 2 receiver, but they continue to find ways to win. Outside of the play of McNair, a big reason the Titans are enjoying a strong start to the season is because they excel at limiting giveaways and capitalizing on takeaways. In last week's win over the Steelers, for example, the Titans did not turn over the ball, but turned two Tommy Maddox interceptions and one fumble into 21 points. They finished +3 in turnovers. New England was -4 in turnovers last weekend and chances are, that won’t happen again. Turnovers might not even out on the season, but they don’t continue to bounce to just one team also. New England is 9-2-1 ATS as a home dog since 1999 while Tennessee is 5-9 ATS as a road favorite. They are on a streak of 0-8 ATS as road favorites of 3 or less points off a straight up win. The Pats are playing just their second home game this season while the Titans are on the road for the third time. We see a big effort from New England as they get their third win of the season.
