Both Philadelphia and St Louis continued their strong run as the season draws to a close, and are now 6/1 and 15/2 respectively for Super Bowl honours. Kansas just keeps on winning, and they now share outright favouritism with Tennessee at 4/1. Green Bay is out to 33/1 after being upset by Detroit, although their easy run-in should still see them fill top spot in their division. Baltimore arguably produced the performance of the week by embarrassing San Francisco, who now face a basement battle in the NFC West. Jacksonville showed plenty of fight to see off the Buccaneers, thereby ending any hopes of successive Super Bowls for the holders!

With only four weeks to go in the regular season, all eight divisional battles have boiled down nicely into two horse races, some closer than others. In fact of the 64 remaining games, four will have more of an impact on the play-off picture than any of the others – and three of them take place this weekend! Divisional glory in the AFC South, AFC North, NFC East, and the NFC West looks set to be decided by head to head clashes between the two main combatants.

With losses for both Tennessee and Indianapolis last week, their live game certainly looks one to savour and could decide the destiny of the divisional crown. The Colts won the team’s first encounter earlier this season and a series sweep would give them a crucial tie-breaker over Tennessee if they finished level on victories. In the AFC North, Cincinnati currently holds the call over Baltimore due to their head to head victory in Ohio, Sunday’s return leg in Maryland will give the victors the edge. The Eagles have put together a fine run in recent weeks, and a home victory over the Cowboys on Sunday would give them a decisive break!

In Sunday’s other live match-ups , New England hosts closest challengers in their section Miami, while Carolina travels to Atlanta. The Monday night game has St Louis braving the cold of Cleveland to face the slumping Browns, who will be hoping to bounce back from last week’s thrashing by Seattle. A win for the Rams will keep them on track for the NFC title ahead of their crucial clash with the Seahawks in week 14.

Big weekend in the college ranks with the three Conference Finals, the MAC, SEC and the Big 12. In the latter the Oklahoma Sooners will be looking for a perfect season before they go on to the Sugar Bowl. In the SEC championship game Louisiana State could jump up to number two and a chance at the national title if they can get past the Bulldogs!

Sweet Return, ridden by Julie Krone led a one-two for trainer Ron McAnally in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby on Sunday. Off to a flier from the gate the winner kept enough in reserve to hold the late challenge of stablemate Fairly Ransom by half a length. Meanwhile, Falbrav will be seeking to round off his career in style with another top-level success in the Hong Kong cup on Sunday week. Put in at 5/4 favourite, his main rival appears to be fellow English challenger Rakti (4/1).
