  • Wed. CBB...St Joe's at Fordham

    7pm ET
    St Joseph's @ Fordham

We'll lay the wood in a big way tonight as second-ranked St Joseph's look to maintain their unbeaten record when they visit Fordham.

St Joe's is one of two undefeated teams in the nation and this week moved up to second place in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls. They are now a perfect 22-0 this season including 11-0 in the Atlantic 10.

Both Jameer Nelson and Delonte West are shooting better than 50% from the field and their all-round games form undoubtedly the best backcourt in the nation. Nelson has won six Atlantic 10 Player of the Week awards and leads the Hawks with 20.2 ppg to go along with 4.5 rpg and 5.3 apg. West owns another great set of numbers at 19.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 4.9 apg and has lifted his play to another level recently. In his last eight games he is scoring 22 ppg at an amazing 66.6% clip from the field and a 51.6% mark from 3-point range. Legendary coach Pete Newell is on record that West and Nelson are as good, if not better than the greatest all-time backcourts in college hoops.

Coach Phil Martelli complained about St Joe's lack of effort following their 73-59 victory over Rhode Island on Saturday. They were dominated 46-24 on the boards and the Hawks coach said his players appeared mentally tired. It was reported that Martelli chewed the players out straight after the game and warned them of getting carried away with all of the publicity they have received for the fantastic season thus far. Expect the Hawks to bounce back with a very strong performance tonight.

St Joe's are a stellar 7-1 ATS on the road this season including a perfect 3-0 ATS when installed as a road favorite of more than 12.5 points.

Fordham have dropped eight straight games with an average losing margin of 19.2 ppg. They are now 4-17 overall including 1-9 in conference play so it's no surprise that they have been busting bankrolls all season long. The Rams are 5-12 ATS overall including 1-7 off a loss against a conference rival, 1-5 at home and 3-7 against teams with a winning record. Fordham tend to struggle towards the end of the season as they are a pitiful 3-13 ATS in February the least three seasons.

The Hawks routed the Rams 79-35 earlier this season and have now won eight straight in this series including four consecutive covers. St Joe's average winning margin in the last four games of this series is 25.5 ppg and tonight we expect them to win by as much as they want.
