  • Wed. CBB...Saint Louis at Cincinnati

    8pm ET
    St. Louis @ Cincinnati

We're forecasting the Saint Louis Billikens to keep it close enough to cover tonight when they visit the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Cincinnati have been double-digit favorite's in four of the five recent meetings between these teams and has failed to cover every time. The Bearcats have been favored by an average of 14 points in those contests but the average score is Cinci 61, St Louis 55.5.

The Billikens have lost just one game this season by more than 13 points so to be getting them as a big dog tonight against a team they have played well against recently offers excellent value. Saint Louis tops Conference USA by allowing only 57.1 ppg and they should be able to get enough stops tonight.

St Louis have been hot and cold this season and their last ten games read WWWLLLLWWW. They are now 14-9 SU overall including 7-5 in C-USA play. Most recently the Billikens have beaten Charlotte and Marquette at home and on Saturday they won 69-62 at DePaul as 4.5 point underdogs. After shooting just 23.8 percent from the floor in the first half, Saint Louis scored 50 points after the break on 63 percent shooting to snap DePaul's five-game winning streak. St Louis are a stellar 21-4 ATS the last three seasons including 5-1 this season off a win against a conference rival.

The high-powered Cincinnati offense they will face tonight shouldn't worry the Billikens too much as St Louis are 11-3 ATS the last three seasons including a perfect 3-0 this season against teams that score 77+ ppg. The Bearcats impressive defense is also unlikely to pose too many problems in us getting the cover tonight...St Louis are 14-6 ATS the last three seasons including 4-1 this season against teams that allow less then 64 ppg.

Cincinnati opened the season with 13 straight wins and rose to as high as No. 6 in the rankings but they are just 5-5 SU over their last ten games. They have covered just one game during this stretch, with two pushes and seven losses burning a hole in bettors pockets. The Bearcats shot just 35% from the field Saturday but rallied for an OT victory against Louisville. That emotion-charged and potentially season-saving win may well cause an emotional let-down tonight against a team they are expected to beat easily.

Disappointing center Robert Whaley left the team for personal reasons Monday night. The two-time junior college All-America center was the star of the Bearcats' last recruiting class but averaged only 6.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in 20 games.

Cincinnati are 0-6 ATS in February and have not covered a home game in six weeks and tonight we expect St Louis to keep this one close throughout.
