  • Monday NBA...Cavs at Hawks

    7.30pm ET
    Cleveland Cavaliers @ Atlanta Hawks

We'll go against the public tonight and take the Atlanta Hawks to keep it close enough to cover against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The public are well and truly aboard the LeBron James bandwagon but that helps us get some line value tonight. While it's true the Cavaliers are in play-off contention it must be kept in perspective that they are only in the hunt due to the embarrassingly weak Eastern conference where 10 of the 15 teams are at .453 or worse.

These teams clashed last Wednesday in Cleveland and the Hawks were routed 112-80. The shellacking was expected though as the Hawks are a bad road team and were in an obvious let-down situation coming off of an emotional 94-93 win against the Lakers the previous night which was described by Jason Terry as "The greatest feeling we've had all year. This is very satisfying. It was an incredible win for us."

While low on talent we do know that with a weekend off and revenge and respect on their mind Atlanta will play hard at home tonight. The Hawks have played just four games at Philips Arena in the last month and have won three of those. Their three victims in this stretch are the Lakers, Mavericks and 76ers.

The Cavaliers are just 27-36 overall this season including 9-23 on the road so for them to be laying points tonight may prove to be a very difficult task. Cleveland are likely to be emotionally and physically tired tonight following a very busy schedule. So far this month they have played at Chicago, then hosted Atlanta, traveled to New Orleans, then back home to host Milwaukee and now they are back on the road tonight for their third game in four nights.

The home team has won and covered four straight in this series and the Hawks have won six consecutive games SU against the Cavaliers in Philips Arena.

Tonight we're expecting this game to come down to the final buzzer and will recommend the home team plus the points.

    Recommended Play: Atlanta Hawks +4
