When ESPN goes to a conference like the SEC and asks for a game for prime viewing you can bet they want a competitive game for ratings. The SEC in turn will designate one of their games for Thursday nite. Spurrier is a natural draw. The conference will then go to Miss St AD and ask "ARE YOU READY" if not will hide you on ESPNU on Saturday. DONT GIVE US A CLUNKER with the country watching. The AD goes to the coach for his imput. On Sept 24 they held Georgias' high powred running game to less than 100 yards. Holding Auburn to the same on the road is impressive. How about Houstons' 210 yard passing total on Oct 22, not too many teams have contained Kolb over the last two years. The 17-0 loss to Bama looks bad until the line score shows us that 14 points were scored off of TO's. Things finally clicked in their last game with Miss, a 35-14 laugher. It was like going to a high school dance and being shot down all night; finally the hottest girl dances with you. Now you cant wait for the next dance!!! I think this transends to the Miss State football team for 06. They will be vastly improved and will look at this game as winnable in their quest for a bowl bid.
Anyway its not like their playing USC, well they are playing USC but not the real one. This one is Universit Of South Carolina not Southern Cal. And the Cocks have a few gliches in their 7-5 mark in 05. Those 7 wins can easily be turned into 3. Watch; Cocks beat Tenn on last second FG after Vols fumbled clinching TD away in end zone, scored in the last minute to beat Vandy in a game that could have either way; Beat Fla and Arkansas, despite only gaining an average of 200 yds. Gators and Hogs had close to 700 between them. Bottom line South Carolina was not that good last year and State was not bad. The line is 6.5. Naturally we will wait for the 7, but we wont need it.
