  • A MONDAY NIGHT GIFT

    BRONCOS VS. RAIDERS

Anyone that's been on this forum for any period of time will vouch for the fact that I rarely if ever bet on any games involving the Oakland Raiders.........They are my all-time favorite team of course, and I'm a fan whether they win or lose.........which has been mainly lose over the past few years...........but tonight's game is different and heres why:

Having watched team owner Al Davis lose touch with reality (and the football team) over that last few seasons (you should hear the fans in the stands and in the walking tunnels in the stadium calling for his head), something inspired him to spend over $225 million during the off-season to try to stop the bleeding, a move that mostly drew laughs and criticism from reporters and publications, and just about everyone else in the pro football world.......I myself wasn't very enthused about much until I started watching the pre-season camp notes and the pre-season games themselves.

Now I'm not going out on a limb and stating here that the Raiders will all-of-a-sudden become the dominating team they were known to be, but big improvement is guaranteed............The secondary should be called the primary , because they are second to no one in this league...........With the additions of DeAngelo Hall, whom the Raiders signed from the Atlanta Falcons, and Gibril Wilson, who comes over after helping lead the New York Giants to the Super Bowl Trophy, saying this backfield will be hard to pass against - is a hell of an understatement........as Jay Cutler will see tonight, especially having to go without suspended Brandon Marshall, his favorite target........Fans and coaches are already comparing the tandem corners of Hall and Nnamdi Asomugha to the legendary Michael Haynes and Lester Hayes of the Raiders glory years..........The acquisition of Wilson allows Michael Huff to return to his natural position in the Free Safety spot...........A trio of quick-hitting LB's in Morrisson, Howard and Thomas don't exactly hurt the cause, and pass-rushing specialist Derrick Burgess round out what should be the most improved defense in the league this year.

The real reason I love this game though, is the way the Raiders running game stacks up against the Broncos......Although limited in his touches during the pre-season, look for #1 draft pick Darren Mc Fadden to see plenty of action tonight -- alternating duties with the hard-running Justin Fargas........The Raiders dominated the Bronco defense on the ground the last time they met, and cruised to a 34-20 victory at McAfee Coliseum........I'd be surprised if JaMarcus Russell threw more than 15-20 passes tonight, as I think this will be a fast moving, run-oriented attack from the Raiders ........Coach Lane Kiffin refused to start any of his 1st string offense during last week's meaningless game against Seattle, nor did he unveil much of his playbook in his game plan in that one.........Look for him to pull out all of the stops tonight, in an effort to jump start these young kids out of the blocks, and find themelves in 1st place in the division by night's end.............No predictions on a total or anything, just that the Raiders will control this one early and late, and they will win this game handily straight up..........Big money play on the Raiders tonight on the moneyline, no points needed...........in a game that the bookmakers got backwards.

    Good Luck to you tonight.

Im from the Bay Area too and I've seen and heard that too. Even though I dislike the Raiders and Al Davis I believe they will run all over the Broncos, they will eat the clock while giving their D rest so they can stay fresh. Their D has been solid in the past too, they just got worn out by being on the field all the time, I do feel that the D is improved this year too.

Go Raiders! Can't believe I am rooting for them. Money talks though.

Their my Last Man standing team this week don't let me down.
      good luck

Damn Guys..I am on them too. Hope this is a good thing for all.

Also like Green bay UNDER 38. Think both offenses struggle a bit.

            Good Luck!

I have no real knowledge of this game except my brother in law is a huge bronco fan and has loved the Bronc's dominance over the Raiders since Shanahan took over. He expects the Raiders to win, which is very suprising since he bleeds Bronco orange and rarely goes against his team.

              Good luck,

Russell wasn't too bad, but their defense is terrible...

I knew I was in trouble when we were all in agreement, but that wasn't the reason we sucked, it was simply a disgraceful showing..........Heads will definitely roll -- since this team is far too talented to be embarassed the way they were tonight........Defensive coach Rob Ryan should resign at once..........Lane Kiffin will be the first NFL coach to walk the plank, but more importantly, Al Davis should take himself out of the picture once and for all.........Was that a diaper he was wearing, or was that Lane Kiffins's contract he was wearing on his lap during the game?.........Maybe, and hopefully it was both...........but any way you look at it, drastic changes are necessary right away for this franchise, if they plan on keeping the player's morale and confidence at a proper level early in the season..........Would be very surprised if the coaching staff holds on for very long.............of course that's what I said last year about Tom Coughlin out of the gate, and all he did was go on to win the Super Bowl........Way too much talent on this team to give up after one game...........On to Kansas City next week -- and we'll have a better take on things then...........Sorry about the miserable prognosis I offered tonight...........Good Luck, and keep the faith.

I know Denver got lots of help tonight, but regardless....they still looked pretty darn good on their own. What looked like a very winnable game for the Chargers next week all of a sudden looks like a very likely loss. Eddie Royal, Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler might be a killer combination for Cutler this year.

It must have been Either the unanimous agreement or the posting jinx for the Raiders to be awful.

No, wait change that...Its the same old undisciplined and sloppy Raiders we ALL know that showed up again last nite. The over/under for the season is 6 wins, sure looks like Under it is.

In the NFL most teams appearance change from week to week thats what makes football so difficult to cap, but not with the raiders. How long before the quit playing again this year?

Atleast I get a mulligan in the Last Man Standing contest. Maybe I can tell my bookie that too, that this game doesn't count.
                              good luck
