How do you all feel about the lines and the dreaded hooks for this weekends' games?

I see Philly at -4 in all the books.

And Pitt is -6 in almost all.

-4 and -6 might be the most fair lines at least at this time unless weather or an injury update or big money moves them more.

Going off those by a half point could be very big. (Or maybe not. It didn't make a difference last week.) Do we need to go off those numbers if they don't change much?

I guess the precedent has been set to avoid ties, but it gets controversial when someone has to decide which way to take them. khandor has done a good job of using the juice or line movement to decide which way to go with them. I guess that is as good as any.

That might make it Philly -4.5 and Pitt -6.5.

Of course, those of us in contention are going to be biased towards the teams we are leaning to.

That's why I thought maybe -4 and -6 might be the least controversial.

Any thoughts?

Wait until Saturday to post them to see if anything changes and to get the most accurate line?

Weather could also change the Pitt o/u number. But it is pretty low as it is, so it would take a major blizzard to move it much lower than 34. But you wouldn't want to post 34 and then have it drop to 29 on game day and make 34 an easy pick. Or would it be so easy? We saw how New England went way over a dropping number in the blizzard against the Cardinals a few weeks back.

As best I can tell there is not going to be a major money swing for this week's games ... and, in order to keep things consistent ... you can see the lines have now been posted.

IMO, all participants are in the same boat which makes it as fair as possible.

No worries. I didn't think we would want to change the rules at the end here anyway. Just thinking out loud.

Thanks for posting throughout the year.

Next year we can debate whether to "hook" the games or not. And if not, then we just count ties as a half point.
