  • Anyone beside's me????

All I here is how Iowa may upset Penn st. this weekend. Not much of a big ten follower, but who the hell has Iowa beat??? Penn st., just by the reason that all the sports casters on ESPN are calling for a upset will kick ass.

Red raider allow me to respond to such a
    good question.

The line has moved to 9 and the o/u is 40.5

Last year Iowa beat Penn State at Beaver Stadium
    24-23.

I am very impressed with Iowa's defense and not
overly enamored with penn states offense

Penn State has not covered a spread all year
    beating temple, Syracuse and Akron.
Coach Paterno was shocked to hear his team was
rated # 5. So is Carpet................

I expect a close game with Iowa Defense
containing the young OL of PSU

Iowa is 7-1 ATS last 8 games on grass......
also 7-1 last 8 road games vs the spread.

The Hawkeyes are 2-0 ATS this year beating
    AZ and Iowa State.

IOWA is 14-3 UNDER last 17 games

While I am not expecting Iowa to win this
game in a white out at PSU, I do expect a very
hard fought game keeping Iowa within 9.5

        I hear you red raider

Iowa was projected as a mid second tier Big ten
team pre season and I think they are correct

Iowa is gonna give PSU fits with its smash mouth
        football.

Should be a fun game to watch and play

The real resident expert on Iowa is Woodee we
need his keen insight on this game

Game was AT Iowa last year. Beaver Stadium will be a much tougher environment. 100,000+ white-out crowd looking for revenge.

-9 is a big spot and JoePa would be conservative if it is close at the end, so to cover, PSU will have to dominate from the start.

Hard to gauge these two teams so far.

          What say you Woodee.

I don't know what to tell you except I am going to pass on this one.

No real way to gauge how both these teams are so far.

Iowa beat ISU, Zona, and barely got by UNI.

And PSU has beaten nobody either.

I would lean toward the points but its going to be the most hostile enviroment Iowa has seen so far with a revenge minded Penn state crew.

But no huge call on it excpet Iowa +10 as a lean.

Remember also that not only did Iowa win last year, but doing so kept Penn State from a likely shot at a National Title.

Ah......revenge in college football. It can be a beautiful thing........

Penn St seems to be a little over-valued this year. As mentioned, they haven't come close to covering a game against some pretty poor teams. They did have quite a bit of turnover, with just 4 returning starters on offense, and 5 on defense.....a lot more turnover than Iowa who returns 6 on offense and 8 on defense. Either Penn St isn't as good as thought, or they haven't really started clicking yet, or else they've been sleepwalking waiting for this rematch. They will probably win, but I'd be surprised if they do it by 10 pts or more.
