  • 2010-11 NFL CONTEST

The NFL Game of the week contest is simple. Pick ONE PRO FOOTBALL game per week, against the spread or total. The winner is the contestant with the most wins at the end of the year.

This contest is held in our main Bookies Hell posting forum. Picks are posted in the appropriate thread each week, and standings are generally posted on Tuesdays.

This contest is not only popular to participate in, but also very popular among those looking for quality free picks. There are some great handicappers in this contest, and each week, you're getting their very best play. As such, you are strongly encouraged to get your play posted early.

    Official Rules:

    1. Players in this contest will post one pick per week using the line listed Tuesday morning at a major online sportsbook…..SIDES ONLY. If more than one pick is posted the first pick will be used. Editing picks will not be allowed. Once your pick is posted it is official.

    2. SIDES or TOTALS!!! Picks MUST be posted by kickoff posting forum time (EST) on Gameday. NO EXCEPTIONS !

    3. The contest will run from week 1 through Superbowl 45 of the NFL schedule.
    4. Win (1 point), tie/push (1/2 point), and loss (0 point) will be recorded and posted by the following Tuesday.

    5. Not posting a pick will be counted as a loss.

    6. Miss any combination of three (3) weeks of not posting a pick and you are OUT of the contest.

    7. If you come in on week #2, week #1 will be counted as a loss.

Very nice job Taxman............this contest has really been popular over the years. Funny story: I started the contest with Jeff many many years ago. I'm glad to see it's still up and running...........keep up the good work.

Yes. Thank you TAXMAN and everyone else who has chipped in over the years with this contest and others. We couldn't have these contests without volunteers.

I know you all have busy lives and yet you find the time to grade these things and post lines and standings.......I know it's not easy....I can't thank you enough.

The Boys - time flies. Here's a scary thought. I was still in my twenties when this site started........I'm 44 now.

Yes it has been a nice run. I started the college contest a few years after the NFL contest (2004 to be exact). Rules will remain the SAME for the college contest next year, but im willing 2 bet my 50 foot Sea Ray yatch parked in South Shore Harbor in Houston Texas that some WILL NOT READ the rules and complain when i score their plays as LOSERS!

Still one remnant left of SIDES ONLY.

In the past, we usually had the contenders email their picks for the final week or even two if necessary. This prevents the leader from just waiting until the others make their picks and tiebreakers and then making picks and tiebreakers that guarantee him the win. Maybe include that in the rules?

I agree. As for this year, I would have picked New Orleans anyway, as evidenced by all of my pre-Super Bowl comments. But considering winandwin beat me on the tie-breaker in the Hilton contest, I wouldn't have felt too bad about it either way.
Also, it would be best if the tie-breakers were decided on before the contest starts and listed in the rules maybe?

                I hear you dragon.

Suggested tie breakers could be Team Totals or closest to exact score. More skillful.

                  Team totals, I like that.

How about as a tiebreaker, pick conference champions or all 8 division winners.

Just want to enhance this contest and make it better going forward.

Well, conference champs or division winners would have to be selected in the beginning. That might be tough to get everybody to do, and it would be bad if an eventual contender had no tiebreaker.
