A Look at Purdue

The Boilermakers have completed a trifecta beating Indy, Mich St, and Ohio St on the road. First time since 1976.
Purdue Stats vs DI teams
31% from the 3 point land (271 in the country)
36% from the 3 point land Illinois
Point distribution where are the points coming from:
22% are from 3 point land (287th in the country)
55% of scoring is from 2 point land down low
22% is from the foul line
The Illini are about the same except for Free throws being
a part of scoring only 17% of total scoring ranked 321 in the Nation (WOW)
A Look at the game
I dont expect to see Matt Painter employ a zone vs Illinois, like Ohio
State did. That zone really surprised Illinois.
Illinois will has it's hands full containing 6-4 guard Etwan Moore
plays the majority of the minutes nailing 36% of his shots from behind
a crafty play maker.
Robbie Hummel 6-8 is prone to get into slumps but don't let him
get hot on you or he will kill from afar hitting 35% from beyond.
Don't Foul this player 90% from the charity stripe.
Johnson a 6-10 Bruiser has never made a 3 point shot He is
0-3 career in 3 point attempts. But down low in the paint he is unstopable. Illinois must find a way to keep this player out of the paint on offense. Move him out to 12 feet and you neutralized his shot.
Purdue does not NORMALLY turn the ball over they are ranked 8th in protecting the rock.
I just don't think the Illini matches up well with Purdue on the inside and this has been our problem all year long against Big inside teams.
Illinois has a 20% chance of winning this game and this is only if the stars and Sun align on Game Day.
This should be a hard fought game and I think Illinois is playing better than Purdue remembers and should keep this game within 8 points......
