  • Who's your DOG for Week 1 NFL?

This is a take off of Carpet's College Football underdog.

Currently, there are 3 week 1 road dogs of 6 points or more (OAK +6, DET +6.5, CAR +7)

    Since '79, week 1 road dogs of 6 to 7 are: 26-45 SU, 38-30-3

However, since '07, week 1 road dogs of 6 to 7 are: 1-8 SU, 3-5-1 ATS

    HOME DOGS
    Currently, there are 8 week 1 home dogs (PIT +1.5, HOU +2, BUF +3, PHI +3, SEA +3, WAS +3.5, STL +4, KC +4.5)

Since '06, week 1 home dogs are 4-9SU, 5-8 ATS.

So, it appears that the books are pretty close when setting the lines in recent years.

Pitt and Houston could win. Washington, STL and KC could cover.

I agree with Houston. Last year they totally botched their chance to take down Indy at Indy.

I like Pittsburgh as a home dog and Detroit as a road dog.

Not listed in the original post, but I think Cleveland is good pick of a dog this weekend. Delhomme is no newbie to the game and the Browns have a huge offensive line. I don't see much coming from Tampa this year.

Cleveland good thought, but Raiders may surprise everyone too

I'll go with the Lions......definitely a team on the rise and headed in the right direction. Might be too soon, we'll see.

Some troubles in N.E. (injuries, contracts, morale)

Cinncy strong in all areas, ready to show top 5 team in NFL

Buffalo Bills--Miami getting a little too much repsect here I think even against the stinky Bills. I think Spiller runs well, and helps Buff get a nice home dog win.

Cleve +3 or 3.5 is a good play IMHO
