The pressure mounts for Illinois to land a new head coach and all signs say Sumlin

He is 35-17 at Houston and has a great offensive mind. Sumlin was once the special teams coordinator at OU before he became a Offensive Coach. He can fix many things at Illinois.

Ron Zook did not leave the cabinets bare for this new coach and with the right coaching they could be putting up some major points on the board in future games. This will fill the seats because the new AD knows his job is to fill seats and win games.

The real key to this puzzle will be if Illnois can keep Defense Coach Koening who has revitalized this defense to a number 8 ranking. Koening didn't sound to promising to stay in his press conference and has several opportunities that he can have.

All I know is that this would be a big grab for Illinois and with the horses in the barn there is no reason he cannot make Illinois a solid football program.

51 minutes ago - by Cody Westerlund - Sumlin close to deal?
Illinois and current Houston coach Kevin Sumlin are close to reaching a deal for him to fill the same position in Champaign, according to multiple reports and tweets from Illinois beat writers. AD Mike Thomas has kept the search under wraps, but he said Sunday he wants to fill the position "as soon as possible."

Smoke and Mirrors is what I see with Stumbling Sumlin.

Illinois is also after OK State Monken, that would also be a great fit. Flight tracker has Illinois plane leaving from Champaign at 4pm today destination OK City.

The Illini are offering 3mm a year for a new head coach, Not Ohio State type money but a chunk of change to keep them in the over spending market.

Monken has a very impressive resume and seems like a great fit for Illinois.

Illinois has also extended the dead line to apply for the head coaching position to Thursday.

Hearing from the A&M Boards, Sumlin to College Station. IMO, the guy A&M fired, Sherman, is the better head coach.

Still hearing BS from Westwood that they're laying $4 mil a year out there, for a new Head Coach. Recent names that are surfacing in their search are Mora Jr. (failed xNFL coach with Seattle and Atlanta) and even Jim Tressel. Alumni not in favor of Mora and like the idea of Tressel. However, Tressel has big time baggage that the educators don't like.

Now word is that Illinois is going to name Tim Beckman of Toledo the new Head Coach.

Toldeo comes from the MAC and is the coach of the 8-4 Toledo Rockets.

This is a real yawner if true.
