  • NHL Playoffs Picks and Discussion

Probably will be a quiet thread but I love playoff hockey!

Here is a couple futures I locked in last night--

St.Louis Blues -115 over LA Kings in series.

Chicago Blackhawaks +200 to win the West.

I like Ottawa +130 over Montreal in the seriie too, but have not played it yet as I will probably just play Ottawa in the individual games as they will be dogs/short favs. Montreal limped into the playoffs and peaked too early. They are playing thier wors hockey of the year right now.

I think Detroit is the buzz team right now, but I don;t see them getting out of the first round against Anahiem.

I will post my game by game plays here too, but haven't locked in anything yet.,

Feel free to chime in too!

Don't forget, the public slams the under in playoff hockey, with the perception of lock down defensively low scoring games. Last year, in the first 5 days of the playoffs the over was 8-3-7. Yes, a lot games fell flat on the O/U of 5.

I really like Anaheim. Solid team and Detroit is old and slowing down. There really should not be any upsets in the West other than possibly SJ. Vancouver is a nut case as their playoff track record can show. That should be the best series of the bunch in the West.

I ike That Toronto Pick in the other thread too.

My play of the day is OVER 5.5 Islanders/Pens.

I think I am going to parlay Toronto +1.5 with the Indy Pacers in the NBA for pretty close to even money on the parlay.

Toronto looked inept with line changes in the 2nd period.
with a push on the o/u the K-man starts out 0-1-1.
As woodee said, it may be just a few of us, so keep putting
          in thoughts and plays.
taxman, chime in when you see a good play. THANKS.

Didn't see that coming with Toronto?

Lost my over. 5 goals by Pitts and it stays under. That sucks.

Washington caps...what do you think in game 1. Like it myself!

Nice parlay. I've been leary of the Caps based on previous playoff
history. Considering the short season, this year could be different.
No play, but looking for the Blues to win again.

google the L.A. Kings take on "Hangover".

Hitchcock has put out an Amber alert for the Blues power play.

                    May 3
Minny over Chitown money line play.
Just a feeling. I liked the payoff compared to
                    the other games tonight.
                    May 4
                    L.A. -1.5 +200
                    L.A./Stl over 4.5
Defending champs, back home. Nuff said.

Chicago continued to dominate possesion. Minny was pushed off the
puck in the corners on both the offensive and defensive
side of the ice. They just don't have the size to hold on
to the puck. K-Man 0-2-1 so far.

The hawks looked terrible today vs the wild.

Minny exposed Chicago with physical play, kept them hemmed in off the boards on there side of the net. Minny had an amazing amount of front and center shots on goal today all caused by rushing the boards and being physical.

A Blue print game on how to beat Chicago "Get Physical" The St Louis Blues in my opinion are the most physical team in the play offs. (Pitt would be a close second)

                            TODAYS PLAY

ST LOUIS BLUES +1.5 goals -250

LA is dominate at home 20-4-1 at home this year and the Blues have lost the last 6 straight at the staples center.

The Blues are up 2-1 in the series and no team has lead by more than one goal all series, All 3 games have been decided by 1 goal.

St. Louis is a physical team and it was obvious to see them controlling the front boards on defense. Tonight there is a rumor that the Blues are going to unleash a Russian Player they just picked up at the 4 wing position to capitalize on all the open looks the blues have blown.

I am going against the grain here and taking the Blues

I like it. Was grain a freudian slip?

                              Watching Rangers/Cubs and then Stl/LA
Looks like they could play the Winter Classic
                              in Wrigley right now.
