  • 2013-14 Pro Football Game of the Week Contest OFFICIAL RULES (open for discussion)!!

THIS IS THE ANNUAL OPEN UP THE RULES FOR COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS/DISCUSSION. Please feel free to add any suggestions to improve this contest.

PLEASE READ THE RULES VERY CLOSELY AS THIS CONTEST HAS BEEN ENHANCED IT MAKE IT ONE OF THE BEST CONTESTS ON THE WEB

This contest is a very popular contest. There are some great handicappers in this contest, and each week, you're getting their very best play. As such, the rules have been modified to provide quality free picks to everyone at bettorsworld.com.

The Pro Football Game of the Week contest is simple. Pick ONE PRO FOOTBALL game per week, against the spread or total. The winner is the contestant with the most wins at the end of the season.

This contest is held in our main Bookies Hell posting forum. Picks are posted in the appropriate thread each week, and standings are generally posted by Wednesday morning.

Official Rules (please read closely as the rules have been modified from last year):

    1. The contest will run from Week 1 (September 5, 2013,) through the Championship game at MetLife Stadium (February 2, 2014) of the Pro Football schedule.

    2. Your pick may include a Thursday, Sunday, or Monday game. However, you are only allowed one pick per Pro Football week.

    3. Players in this contest will post one pick per week using the line listed Thursday morning at a major online sportsbook (lines will be posted on Wednesday for weeks with Thursday games). If more than one pick is posted by a contestant, the first pick will be used. Editing picks will not be allowed. Once your pick is posted it is official.

    4. If a game is posted as "OFF" when lines are posted on Thursday morning, it will remain "OFF" even if the side and total are subsequently posted later in the week. Posting a game that is "OFF" will be counted as a loss.

Carpet is back to defend his title. I have scoured the earth to find my partner "Corn Picker" and I found him. Good news is Corn Picker has been watching everything regarding NFL Football all from the comfort of a Corn Field located in the middle of No where-Kind of Funny.

        This will be fun

I have an observation......IF the scoring is as described above (#9), then could we dispense with the "records"? I have wondered for years why the rules state that you get a point for a correct selection but the results board always has records.

The 'records' will not be true records as there are people that jump in and out of the contest. There were a few that played 1 week and never made a pick again. Technically, their record is 1-0, however, for the 3 weeks that they did not make picks, they are in reality for this contest 1-3.

How I score keep the contest, each week, if a pick is made the individual gets 1 for a win, 0 for a loss, .5 for a push. If no pick was made I do not enter anything into the column. From there, I take the number of the week and subject the wins to get the 'loss' record for the contest.

This in my opinion, makes it easier for anyone that wants to track the "All Time Best Football Cappers" because I will have the true and actual records.

What is the prize for this contest and is it free or buy-in?

The contest is free. In the past, the prize pool has generally been between $1200 and $1500.

This year, we have to lower that amount, and likely for this year only, for BOTH the NFL GOW and the College GOW.

The prize will be $500 for each contest.

I suggest we make it winner take all, but that's up to you guys. If you'd rather have 1st place thru 3rd place, the prizes will of course be small for each place.

Let me know.....we don't have much time.

                        1st-$350
                        2nd-$100
                        3rd-$50

There that was pretty easy lol. The way I see it is the contest is free so its hard to be greedy and wanting to want to win more money. I think if you go winner take all once people feel they dont stand a chance to finish first they will stop coming to the site and posting plays. If you have top 3 get money then that will give people more of a chance and make them want to post plays and come to the site even if they are middle of the pack in standings.

Agree with Bret and vote for a split up of the $500 for this contest too.
