  • CGOW

Football starts in a few weeks, so I want to give you guys a heads up.

Because of increased work responsibilities and hours, I will not be able to help administer the CGOW contest this year. I just do not have the time. Long story short, my boss retired last month and I was assigned some of their duties and responsibilities.

I hope to participate in the contest, but will not have adequate time to help administer it.

The K-Man can let us know what his situation is. He may be able to handle it solo, or may want some help, I don't know.

But if he wants some help, this will allow time to get things in place before the season starts.

    Thanks for understanding.

I talked to OCK off camera and I have no problem running the contest. I know that our group will be keeping close
watch, so there shouldn't be any major issues.

The only issue is finding a good site that offers just one line. As mentioned last year, USA Today, Yahoo, etc.
post 5 or 6 offshore lines and not one specific line. I don't want to favor one off-shore book over another especially
since several are featured here on Bettorsworld.
Give me ideas and I can pick one site/one line to use. Thanks.

Pinnacle might be the best and sharpest: http://www.pinnaclesports.com/League...A/1/Lines.aspx

I agree that USA Today or Sheridan odds suck for use in this contest. I say we pick a sports book and go with their Tuesday or Wednesday lines as of 12 Noon or find an accurate source of Las Vegas opening lines.

Actually opening lines probably not a good idea as people would just wait until the last minute and play line moves.

            Kman..

As long as we all play by the same rules and lines we will be okay...You pick whatever site you want...You did a great job last year and there are always going to be someone crying about some horseshit that doesn't matter at all. Usually they are the ones who could never win if they got a 3 win start.. You did a great job last year and just lead us and we will follow...

scoresandodds.com current line is probably the best thing to use for a contest.

Yeah, I'd say scores and odds or BW lines here using one of the sportsbooks listed there....Might be good advertising for one of the sponsoring books for this site. Maybe they will throw in some prize money too??

Bovada, or SIA are probably not great ones to use as they are kind of square shops but any of the others who have good early numbers on sides or totals ay be good. 5 dimes, Betonline, Sportsbook.com etc.

Special thanks to Carpet for getting the upset of the week started.. I think it was Widestrides who pointed out that most people take the favs as their wager but this contest forces you to pick out of your comfort zone.. It is a great staple to our forum and I hope it continues always. I personally don't think the idea would be a bad thing in the NFL. Would anyone have any objections if I carried it to the NFL also. Two separate contests.. I would be glad to handle it if there are no objections..

The Sherridan points do suck and should only be used if your going to flip a coin..

I should have week 0's line posted on Wednesday (early). Not Tuesday at mid-night Carpet. Ha, ha.
