  • WSU QB Halliday throws for 734 yds, sets NCAA passing record.

Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday threw for 734 yards and six touchdowns against the California Golden Bears.

This set a new NCAA passing yardage record for all levels, breaking the mark of 716 set by David Klingler of Houston in 1990.

California Golden Bears QB Jared Goff threw for 527 yards and five touchdowns. California won the game 60-59.

Trevor Davis of Cal ran two kickoffs back for touchdowns in just the third quarter alone, a quarter that saw the two teams combine to score 56 points (28 apiece).

Washington State has the nation's No. 1 passing attack, while Cal's is No. 8. The teams combined for 1,400 yards of offense.

Total opened at 78.5 and appears to have been for some reason hammered down to 68-69 which would suggest the books did alright on this affair but poor Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday.

Exactly what does this kid have to do to win a football game?

Field Goal Kicker missed an XP distance FG with seconds left that would have won it. Coach Leach screwed it up also by not trying to score the TD and not centering the ball. That close from the hash mark is a tough angle. Of course, he should have made it, but they should have punched it in. Snaps and holds can always go bad, etc.
