  • wwts horrible customer service

I made a mistake on a net bet, yes my
    mistake but called
IMMEDIATELY to get it changed, they
refused to budge, it's their RULE
and the RULES are just unchangable.
was on post and got stuck with a
    game had no interest in

that is CRAP. no other book ever
stuck me with a game i didn't want
regardless of their RULES, would have
taken 10 seconds to change it

    customers make your business but
WWTS is so big i guess that
they fogot about the gamblers who
    lay all that juice,
maybe someday they won't have so many
customers and might treat the ones they
    have a little better

Well I made a mistake on a bet with Olympic so I e-mailed Spiro about it and he got right back to me telling me he would cancel the bet...He did cancel it too.

If the game hadn't started then I see no reason why they wouldnt cancel it if it was a mistake. Now if someone started to do this on a regular basis I could see why they wouldn't.

You will find that Customer service is what seperates most online sportbooks. (as well as up to date and secure software)

Going out of your way to keep a customer happy doesn't take much effort and is taught as part of our Client Services Training.

There's no reason to stick with a Company, online or off, that refuses to deal with you as a person, especially in today's climate.

There are some good reasons to not let people just cancel their bet. However, I believe that the best policy to take would be one where they would cancel it if you called in immediatley, as you did, instead of the no budge policy.

my question is why did you NOT contact bworld following this problem?
i am hoping someone from WWTS will respond to the initial post.

It does seem that, with some restrictions and limits, a sportsbook should consider cancelling a wager. For example, if

            (1) the call is immediately after the mistake is made

            (2) the wager is not a limit (maximum amount) bet placed within 1 hour of the event start (which would move their line and perhaps cause them to take a hit on the other side)

            (3) the player does not do this often (make notation on account when it is done)

and maybe there are others. But everyone makes mistakes. If the sportsbook can cancel a wager based on their mistake (bad line), then they certainly should grant that privilege to the players.

SH makes the best point of all. If the book can cancel any wager it deems a "bad" line, or obvious human error, then they absolutely HAVE to honor the players wish to cancel a wager if HE makes a mistake, providing it's not a daily occurance. It HAS to be a two way street! BOOO! To WWTS!

When placing wagers online, you first select a team, then confirm the team and the amount of the wager then post the wager. There are 3 different checkpoints to ensure that your wager is correct before the bet is confirmed. That is why we have the rule that Internet plays are the responsibility of the customer.

In respect to the situation in question, the bet was made 1 minute before game time. By the time the customer called, the game was off and the number was moving.

When a clerk makes an incorrect bet is it verifiable by the recorders but with the Internet the customer has to confirm the wager twice. If one would like to cancel a wager, they can simply bet the other side.

                Sincerely

I have to agree, a wager made one minute prior to game start is a bit late for changes.

I agree that 1 min. or even 5-15 min before a game you shouldn't be able to cancel your bet.

But I still strongly feel that if, say, you make a wager on a football game to be played on Saturday and you make your wager over the net on a Tuesday, if you make a mistake and catch it and call in immediatly, you should be able to cancel it. Many things can happen, from key slips to technical errors. How about a scenario to demonstrate my point?
Let's say the college football game I question is Kansas vs. Kansas St. (hypothetically). How easy is it to make a mistake between those 2 team names? (Just for the record, I've never made a mistake like this. This is all just for example). And as with many mistakes we all make, it doesn't matter how many times we have to comfirm the wager. We could have to confirm it 20 times, and we would all still realize our mistake at the same time, which is right after we put in that final confirmation.
I think there should be some "within reason" cancelations allowed. I don't care how strict "within reason" has to be to protect the sportsbook, so long as the no budge policy is budged a little. Just my opinion.

I don't think WWTS deserves that topic heading.

I made a huge mistake one day on two fairly large plays - one at Carib and one at Canbet.

I called CanBet and they told me that since it was placed on the net, Aussie law would not allow them to cancel the wager.

I sent a memo to Carib and they told me their official policy was not to cancel bets.

Bottom line - I screwed up and ate the wagers (they both lost). I wasn't made at either shop - it was my mistake and it was a fairly expensive lesson.

I also made two mistakes at WSEX - one on market futures, clicking twice in stead of once. I called and the fixed it straight away (of course that was a winner!).

The other mistake was interactive markets and I sensed something wrong by my account balance but couldn't figure out what exactly. I sent an email while the game was in progress, detailing what I had meant to play.

I asked Brian the next day to ask them to correct MY error and they were kind enough to do so.

I'll tell you - after losing a significant amount by making mistakes, I am more careful.

One question - couldn't you just bet back the other way and just lose the juice?

                        As Always - Good Luck,

I have been with WWTS for years and have never had a problem. 1st class all the way. But trying to get down 20 plays with five seperate books within a 2 hour period on a Sat. morning is going to cause mistakes. Just bet the other way and eat the juice. I look at it as just a part of doing business. If you wait till the last minute you can somtimes end up with a decent middle!! It all averages out
