            Checkers,

Sorry for not responding to your question earlier, I don't visit this forum very often.

Multiple regression is a mathematical technique that generates a formula trying to predict one variable from several others.

In this case, the formula generated used several factors available in the past performances (things like how the dogs fastest times compared to others, the number of good and bad races they had, and how they did in races against each other). It then predicted the probability each dog would win this race.

Like I said, it seems to work fairly well, but not good enough to overcome the take out in the paramutual pool.

              Checkers,

You asked WHAT ARE OTHER JAI-ALIA LINGO???

Arimada,Chick chack,Cortada, but the MOST killer shot of them all where the ball hits the backwall and comes out without a bounce is CHULA!!!

                  Checkers here they are.

Arimada-when the ball goes close to the side wall hindering the opponets ability to catch it.

Chick-chack-Precision shot in which the ball first hits the floor of the cancha next to where the floor meets the back wall. The ball then bounces up, hits the back wall and comes out with little or no bounce. Almost impossible to return.

Cortada-shot thrown from the outside that strikes the front wall low and angles sharply toward the inside. An effective kill shot when thrown properly.

dejada-a lob shot tossed toward the front wall usually from a short distance. Most often thrown when an opponent is caught deep in the backcourt.

Picada-shot thrown from the right side that bounces off the front wall at a steep angle, causing a big bounce when it strikes the cancha.

Remate-Term used to describe any kill shot.

BTW The yankee stadium of jai-alai is in the state of Florida at Miami Jai-alai.
