The Prophet's Ivy League Play of the Week
We hit another Ivy League winner last weekend as Brown beat Penn to run our Bettorsworld Ivy Play of the Week record to a perfect 4-0 for the year. That was part of a 3-1 day for our 1-AA plays, which have never hit below 60% for a season. From the looks of it, having Pinnacle taking action on 1-AA plays is a bit of a mixed blessing. On one hand, its great having an extra "out" for the small colleges. On the other hand, the linesmakers at Pinny didn't just fall off the proverbial turnip truck so the lines for the smaller colleges are getting sharper. Still, there's a lot of value to work with and we'll try to keep our Ivy League run going this weekend.
I've received a number of questions about the 1-AA and Ivy League plays, more specifically, people wanting to know how they can get all of our Ivy and small college plays. In the past we've limited these plays to members of our premium RazorSharp service. Due to the volatility in the lines, we've done that to make sure that our paying clients can find value on our releases. This weekend, however, we're going to try an experiment. We're going to offer all of our 1-AA small college and Ivy League plays as part of "The Prophet's Weekend Pass". Here's the deal--$75 gets you everything from our basic Net Prophet Sports service AND our RazorSharp service for a full weekend. Actually, we'll give you everything through Monday for this low price and if you sign up before 5:30 PM on Friday we'll throw in everything for that night as well. Plays will be sent via email, and we'll also give you a PIN# for use on our voicemail service. You'll get all of The Prophet's college football, NFL, NBA and NHL plays along with our selections on this week's NASCAR race. The RazorSharp service will give you all of the 1-AA small college and Ivy League plays, European soccer (our Euro soccer guy has been dominant this year and is currently on a 10 game winning streak) and anything else we come up with. To take advantage of the small college plays you should sign up before 11 AM Eastern on Saturday morning and we'll send the 1-AA/Ivy plays when we distribute them to our regular clients.
If I get a good enough response from this, and if there's no deleterious impact in the line for our full season clients we'll continue this for the rest of the football season. This is the first time that our full slate of small college plays have ever been made available to the general public, so I'd suggest you take advantage of it. There's a reason I've been called the "Billy Walters of 1-AA football" and this is your chance to get in on some of the best value plays of the week.

IVY LEAGUE PLAY OF THE WEEK:
The Brown Bears have made it through the toughest part of the schedule, and their three remaining contests are all games they should win. All of the remaining teams on their schedule having losing records, and the final two games on the slate are against arguably the weakest teams in the Ivy League (Dartmouth and Columbia). Saturday's opponent, Yale, is 3-4 overall but 3-1 in the Ivy League-more a function of the schedule than anything else since they've yet to play Brown, Harvard and Princeton. Brown already holds wins over Princeton and Penn, so if they can run the table they'll win the Ivy title. They're 6 point road favorites here, but there's a potential for a letdown off the win over Penn. Still, they're good enough that I don't have much interest in the underdog Yalies here. Brown has a very potent offense, and there's no reason that they can't simply outscore Yale and win the game regardless of how their defense plays.
And that brings us to the crux of this handicap-while I don't have many worries about the Brown offense led by their stud running back Nick Hartigan, the defense hasn't really shut anyone down this year. They've only held one opponent to single digits (they held lowly Georgetown to 3 in their opening game) and every opponent but one has scored more than 20 points against them. Their defense came up huge last week, holding Penn to 20 points but I can't see them having as much intensity here against a team that doesn't provide much motivation.
Brown's offense, meanwhile, has been solidly productive all season long scoring at least 30 points in every game this year. Yale's offense isn't in the same league, but they've been good for at least 20 points in most of their games (only the defensive juggernaut of San Diego and, inexplicably, Dartmouth held them to fewer than 20). On defense, Brown should run all over Yale-this is a team that gave up over 5 yards per carry to lowly Columbia, after all. Nick Hartigan could have his best game of the season and Brown could break 40 points for the 2nd time this season. They should at least score in the mid to high 30's.
Yale's passing attack will keep them in the game, however, and against a defense that might lack a little intensity this week they should be able to move the ball and put points on the board. This game will be all offense and while they might not combine for 99 points like the two teams did in 2003, they should at least hit the high 50's or low 60's. We'll play the OVER here….
