    SPEEDWAY: LORAM GAMBLE
    By JANINE SELF

MARK LORAM'S favourite speedway trick is to beat the odds - which must make him top of the bill with William Hill.

The betting firm are sponsoring today's Swedish Grand Prix for the first time.

And Poole's England star Loram likes a gamble - on the track at least.

Last year he upset the form book by winning in Sweden after being given a wildcard entry.

Last month he finished runner-up in Prague despite dislocating his shoulder and smashing his knee days before.

Now he hopes to defend his Linkoping title in textbook fashion.

Loram said: "I'm feeling good. The knee still gives me a bit of trouble but the shoulder is okay and I'm riding well.

"There's an exciting future for speedway with big names like William Hill coming into it and I want to be around to reap the benefits.

"The one thing I lack is consistency and that's what I want to improve on this year."

Fellow Brit Chris Louis, of Ipswich, also finished on the rostrum in the Czech GP last month.
