A flood of patriotic bets have forced William Hill to cut the odds on England winning Euro 2000.
England, who were boosted by the news that skipper Alan Shearer should be fit to face Portugal in their opening game on Monday, were clipped from 9-1 into 8-1 by Hills.
"We are already looking at a million pound payout if England win - and that can only get bigger," said the firm's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills make Shearer 13-8 favourite to top score in the tournament for England and 12/1 to be the Euro 2000 top scorer.
