  • High Brow Marketing Tactics

I'm getting real tired of these high brow tactics by certain sportsbooks. The biggest offender in this area is First Fidelity. A while back I got a call from them at work and on my cell phone trying to solicit my business. I told them I wasn't interested.

Then last week, I got a call whereby there was a message on my answering machine stating. "This is a call for Harley Gol." (Don't know where they got that name from but I don't care). "This is very urgent so please call 1-800-xxx-xxxx and quote file number xxxx." Well I nervously called the number, quoted the file number and was passed on to the marketing department of First Fidelity Sportsbook who tried to sell me on their bonus. I was pissed. Who do these guys think they are? And this wasn't the first time they called me. I played the tape for Brian so he could hear it himself and he was in shock also.

It occurred to me though that if they use this tactic on me they must use it on others also. As well, I'm sure there are other books that use the same tactics.

I'd like people to e-mail me at "hartley@bettorsworld.com" or post their horror stories here. It's time the high brow tactics of these books are exposed and I'll write an article on them. Maybe if they know that bettors won't put up with this garbage they'll use traditional marketing tactics that the good books use.
