¤ 27/05/02: Epan.com, Ireland’s first online real time financial bookmakers, has announced the launch of its long dated share betting markets.

There are 650 new long dated markets in all and clients will be able to speculate on a shares performance for up to three months in the future.

The long dated markets are updated in real time and the expiry months are March, June, September and December, as with all Epan betting markets clients do not incur commissions, stamp duty or capital gains tax.

Epan.com is owned and operated by Pan Index and is licensed to conduct its business as a financial bookmaker by the Department of Customs and Excise.

¤ Election time in Colombia expected to cause increased tension in a country already stifled by fear and uncertainty. Riots and protests are expected and extra police will be on patrol to prevent any rebel attacks. Bet Mega is currently located there and will hopefully not be affected by any hostile effects from the election.

¤ Federal prosecutors charged FBI agent Lynn Wingate and Jeffrey Royer, a former agent who resigned last year, in an indictment unsealed Wednesday. Analyst Amr "Tony'' Elgindy, who allegedly used the inside FBI information to make money on the market, was also charged. In exchange for money, the agents used FBI databases to provide their co-conspirators information on publicly traded companies. In 2000 and 2001, an associate of Elgindy, Derrick Cleveland, wired Royer $30,000 while still an FBI agent. Elgindy allegedly spread negative information on the companies on his Web site and to subscribers of his e-mail newsletter, InsideTruth.com, while betting that that the companies' stock would go down. Now there's some integrity for everyone...

¤ Austrailian software company Jupiters getting ready to release new version of casino software to revolutionize the industry. The software is known as the Cougar System.

¤ Middle Eastern suspect Avi Hudeda arrested for a fixing scheme involving the World Cup teams. References and contact information for several officials were found in the suspect's home as well as a considerable amount of betting material.

¤ Yabet/CRIS merger is no surprise. Yabet has been looking to partner with an American market-oriented book for over a year now. This merger should serve everyone well.

¤ Tote, the UK bookmaker, is to exit Totalbet.com, the internet betting website it set up with the Sporting Life online newspaper, to create its own internet betting site. Totalbet, launched in April 1999, had operated as a partnership between the two, with Tote Credit acting as bookmaker and the Sporting Life providing the technology. Under the new plans, Tote will set up its own site - tote.co.uk - while Totalbet will be run solely by Sporting Life, operating under UKBetting's bookmaker's licence.

¤ Israel ALSO to push for legalizaton of allowing gambling over the television (need military funding to fend off suicide bombers). The system would make use of interactive, digital television.

¤ Barbados to considering allowing online casinos to operate from their country for tax revenue increases.

¤ Israel to launch airborne casino to take passenger in the air for four hours, allow them to gamble, then land again. This is completely true and reported in the Ha'Aretz Israeli newspaper. Anyone interested in reservations can contact [email protected]

¤ Jay Cohen's response is not yet a matter of public record and until it is, any rumors of what it may or may not contain should be considered skeptical.

¤ Watch carefully for books who are unable to quickly complete NETeller and/or PayPal transactions. There is generally a float involved when using these types of accounts, and the inability to complete transactions could mean the float has been used. PayPal's propensity to freeze accounts these days could also have a profound efffect.
