    Gambling boss sentenced
    By Associated Press, 6/21/2002 09:09
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to 10 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to running a gambling operation that extended into New Hampshire and Vermont.

Frank Iacaboni, 57, of Leominster, pleaded guilty to gambling, money laundering, conspiracy and illegal use of the mail. The sentence also includes three years of parole and a $30,000 fine.

Witnesses in a court hearing testified previously that Iacaboni used the Hinsdale Greyhound Park in New Hampshire as a base of operations and to meet customers. Prosecutors said they were not alleging that track officials knew of the activity.

If that's the penalty, these offshore guys would be just as well off if they came back home to book. 10 months? He'll be out in 3!

I think if a lot of these people could come home they would. It's becoming tough out there. Unfortunately, those indictments are kinda keeping them out of the country because they would probably result in more than a 21 month jail sentence and a $5,000 fine at this point.
