  • Colt/Seahawk line move

nformation moves lines, especially in the NFL preseason.

So when oddsmakers heard Peyton Manning and the rest of the Indianapolis Colts starters would see more playing time against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, the books had to act quickly to adjust the number.

“We adjusted our line and started a landslide,” says BetCRIS.com oddsmaker Shane Catford of the line that was at –1 in favor of the Colts before moving to –3 in only 40 minutes Saturday. “We tried to stay above the market but everyone just kept following us or got bet after we moved.”

Word out of Indianapolis is that Manning and the No. 1 offensive unit will log at least 18 plays against the Seahawks. The decision was made after the group played just one series last week against the St. Louis Rams, accounting for seven plays and a touchdown in a 19-17 Indy loss as a 5-point underdog.

“We`ll see how it goes, but as a group they just need to get more plays,” coach Tony Dungy told the Indianapolis Star. “We`re probably looking at 18 to 25 plays. I wouldn`t be surprised to see those guys play into the second quarter.”

Also encouraging Indy backers is the fact the Seahawks will be missing several of their defensive starters Sunday.

Grant Wistrom and Rocky Bernard both returned to training camp this week but didn’t make the trip while Lofa Tatupu could make the trip but head coach Mike Holmgren said it was unlikely he would play because of a minor groin strain.

Starting defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs is also out with an Achilles injury and on the offensive side of the ball quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and running back Shaun Alexander will see only minimal action.

“It sounds like Indy is putting a bit more into this game than Seattle,” says Catford. “That’s a big advantage right there. Definitely enough for us to move the line.”
