  • ILLINOIS -6.0 at MINNESOTA (WED)

Illinois travels to Williams Arena to take on the
the golden Gophers of Minnesota and find themselves
    a 6.0 opening road chalk....

Illinois carrys a 15 game winning streak vs the
Gophers and won the last 6 in a row at Williams
arena all by more 6 points or more...

    Intelligence on the Gophers.............

Minnesota is in an Offensive crisis rarely seen,
scoring 45 pts vs Wisky and 49 at Iowa, marks the
FIRST time the Gophers have failed to score 50 pts
in back to back games since 1978 (18 years)

The Minneapolis Star stated that it is only the
second time in 50 YEARS that has happend...

The Gophers have lost the use of Center Tollakson
(out with broken bones left hand) and he will miss the game
with Illinois and Northwestern. 12.5 ppg 7 rebounds avg
slots in at the number three scorer for Minny. This is
a Huge Loss for this team.

Juniors Mckins 15.7 ppg and Coleman 15.4 ppg lead Minny
and it's a long way down the ladder to find the number
3 scorer of the team Shmala who is avg 5.0 ppg

The loss of Center Tollakson is huge, this creates
a large void inside, and places the game fully on the
outside game of Mckins and Coleman, stop these
two and it's all minny has.....very obvious observation
from the floor of the Carpet......

    A LOOK AT ILLINOIS

This is a team that has Coach Weber losing
his voice every day..... Leading Michigan State
by 14 last game 1st half only to lose in the second half
    (again) and (again) and (again).

Illinois has lead the first half and lost vs
    Maryland, Xavier, Michigan, Mich State
ONLY TO run out of Gas......(lets not forget arizona....)

Mental toughness is lacking, a go to Point
Guard who can score off the dribble is non exsistent
and there is no Floor Leader...... But believe it
or not this team in the last 2 weeks are playing better
and getting stronger.....The pressure is on
and they all know this Minny game is either a
invite to the NIT or a chance to keep playing for the
    dance...

Illinois advantage... inside game will dominate minny,
the guard pressure of Illinois on outside D will
neutralize the only two players the gophers have
    as a threat.

They are banging the War Drums so loud in
Champaign Illinois that my ears are ringing, this
team will come out and play....I look at this
game as a break out game for Illinois.....

The Spread is 6.0 my numbers say Illinois by 10

    Good Luck all

Like it. Watched Minny vs. Iowa over the weekend and they are a confused bunch...I guess Illinois looked pretty confused in that 2nd half too. So, go with the less confused here!

Good write-up and I am wiht you. Plus Minny is one of the easier places to play on the road. Hell, Iowa State came back and beat them there.

Illinois wins the game 64-52 (Carpets view by 10)

Minny turned the ball over 18 times, inside game
invisible and Mckenzie of Minny got his 15 points

Illinois turned the ball over 17 times, amazingly
this occured after Illinois was up by 23 points

A real Gut Check for this team, a must win
        game for Illinois .......

Good Luck to all who jumped onto the Carpet
        and made some money.....

            Again, Nice call.

I am a bit of a fan so hope they turn it up from here on out.

If not, at least Weber is getting them ready for the future. And I know how that feels being a Iowa State guy.

Thank you Woodee and Hart Attack for your
kind words, glad we all were standing at the
              cashiers cage cashing in ......

Next up for Illinois is # 2 Wisconsin
              at Illinois.....

It is PAINT THE HALL ORANGE NIGHT, and
wisky will see a nauseating sea of orange
              as they enter Assembly Hall...

Last year the Paint the Hall Orange game was
played against Wisky, they came in wearing the traditional
RED, and the rest was a sea of Orange, you couldnt
tell who was who on TV.....I am sure wisky will be
              wearing white for saturdays game....

              Good Luck all
