Gotta take the points here! That Mid-Major thing gives this doggy some value. Was the only game that stuck out to me as I followed SIU and the MVC conf. a bit closer this year too. I watched a few of thier games and they definitley have the Defensive intensity to make a game of it.

Going to look it over and see if there are any other angles too.

But my play is SIU +9.

I like Southern Illinois as well. Southern Illinois is one of the best defensive teams in the country. You just have to hope they continue to hit those 3's though.

I was wondering if anyone in here plays many 1st half wagers? I would think that games like this one, USC and Butler would be good 1st half plays. Seems to me like so many of these tournament games are close at the half.

Teams like North Carolina end up taking over LATE in the 2nd half of these games due to their bench depth but these lower seeded teams can play with just about anyone for half a game.

SIU Kansas

A LOOK AT SIU

Ranked 3rd in the country in scoring Defense at 56 ppg.

A Defense that is a real pleasure to watch, for all
you west coasters you never seen a D like this....

The Salukias play so hard in practice its almost easier
to play an opponent...

In practice SIU plays a game called NO FOULS allowed
and No out of bound plays allowed......The Coach
calls it "Keep Playing"..... There is no whining and
it develops toughness....

"We teach them to play no matter what the
circumstance" ........(Sounds a bit like the Marine Corps)

A LOOK AT KANSAS

Strong inside and out, has rolled over opponents
like they are nothing last 10 games...

Kansas plays a tough Defense also, they love to run
and then get back on D....

Jayhawks become frustrated in the half court offense
it really disrupts thier game.

A FEW INTERESTING STATS

These two teams have never played each other......

SIU is 15-1 last 16 games straight up

Kansas (this stat is for my friend TaxMan)

Kansas is 3-14 ATS last 17 games played on a Thursday

SIU is a scrappy bunch of players that if healthy
as a team would beat Kansas Straight Up and just may will anyway.

Carpet dont smell a blow out here, and thinks Kansas
has grabbed a tail of a tiger for this game

A Floor study was conducted by Carpet and every single
detail has been looked at from the floor view.

Although 62% of America betting public thinks
Kansas is a walk at 9 points I beg to differ and bet.

Half this country has never seen SIU play until
last thursday......

This is going to be one HELL OF A GAME... A game
of Individual talent vs TEAM talent....

UPDATE FROM FLOOR BURN U

Floor Burn University SIU update.

Matt Shaw a 6-7 235lb PF for the Salukias
is very questionable for the game, SIU # 3 scorer
sat out last game vs VTECH with a High Ankle Sprain.

A High Ankle Sprain is one of the worst to
come back from quickly. Today Channel 6 news
reports that Shaw practiced today.

" Shaw is out on the floor practicing, looks good
no limping " per Channel 6 reporter out west.

This kid is a FORCE and if healthy you would see
a totally different line of 9 points vs Kansas...

Carpets hopes the kid dont play the game and rest.

Launching 3's from afar with a High ankle sprain
spells doom if he does play ....(Jamar Smith Illinois)

FLOOR BURN U is coming to play tommorrow
and the fans are flocking in, the isu band has no where to
stay tonight as they were turned away all hotels are
booked......This is gonna be a good one........

It's hard to pin a rap on a team (Kansas) when what you are pointing to is a tendency from years past invovling none of the current players. I mean it can't be the uniform can it?! Unless you are pointing this tendency for underachieving and an early exit on the coach.

This Kansas team DOES have heart. Witness the two big come from way behind wins over Texas.

Nine may be too much to give, but it is also not enough to take SIU. I'll sit this one out and expect Kansas to cruise.

I like Tennessee, UCLA and North Carolina.

SIU (Floor Burn U) covers the 9 easily...

To give you an Idea how tough the Salukias D
was... Kansas shot .167 % from 3 point land..

Interior Defense was not there for SIU, Kansas bigs
tough 60% inside scoring for game

Yes SIU Lost the game, but they brought everything
they had as expected... and KU lucky to escape with the SU win.

As predicted SIU to cover.....

Nice call Carpet. That 9 points looked pretty good all night. I didn't get to see the game. What do you think of Kansas? Do they have what it takes to win it all, or do you see them going down vs. UCLA or Pitt?
