  • QB change for Philly to New Orleans?

The rather reliable Howard Eskin from WIP 94.1 FM and Fox News Philadelphia is a reporting that a quarterback change from Michael Vick to Nick Foles is imminent for Monday nights game against New Orleans. The line has jumped from 1.5 to 3.5 New Orleans, but not sure if the general public has this info yet. Michael Vick is a turnover machine, but I am having a hard time imagining a rookie quarterback is going to have a lot of success on Monday night in the Superdome with only one week to prepare. Foles looked great this pre-season...against other teams second and third stringers. While New Orleans doesn't have a great defense, and they are in coaching turmoil, they will still be a many levels above what the rook faced in pre-season. If you are thinking about New Orleans as a side, consider jumping on the line early before it gets bet up any further if this report turns out to be true.

Foles did play against first teamers in the preseason as Vick had the injury. He looked very good but so did Russel Wilson and we all see that it's taken several weeks for him to find his way in the regular season.
This is a desperation move here by the eagles but if you're going to see how Foles will do this is the time to do it (pre bye week would have been better). The saint's defense is absolutely horrid and should give him some confidence. It worked for the cassel and rg3 and even cam why not foles?

Well, I put it out there, so heres the latest for my friends here. Eskin is not backing down but has conceded that we SHOULD know for sure by Wed, but wont know 100% sure until first snap practice Thur. Complicating things is the hurricane, Andy Reid has not held a presser since he spoke to the media after the game Sunday which as you imagine is driving the Philly media NUTS (they seem to have forgotten a Category One Hurricane went though their area Monday night). Most of the Philly media seems to think it would be nuts to make the QB change in New Orleans.

I can tell you the feeling here in Philly is that the drumbeat has officially begun for the Reid dynasty; the QB made curious remarks about being OK with being benched; Andy Reid fired his best friend as DC and the replacement is even worse than him on a worse day, and the players seem defeated and not listening to Coach Andy Reid. The atmosphere here reminds me of the last days of Ray Rhodes as Eagles coach.

As for the line its backed down to 3 or stood at but 3 1/2 with books offering discounted vig on New Orleans as 65% of the public has bet on Philly; I think the Eagles are a team in complete collapse and I would strongly consider taking the 3 points if you can with a 5% price at this point. I cannot believe this is the only game the Eagles have NOT been favored this season except for the Steelers game: what the hell does Vegas see in this team?????

Vick is remaining as the starting QB

I would now be surprised if we see Foles anytime before they are actually eliminated from the playoffs.
This team is in such turmoil and the drama is so heavy and Andy Reid seems so inept and stubborn being insistent on passing when he has a back like McCoy. Boggles the mind.
You know, 2 out of the 3 wins they have they ran more than passed (giants and ravens).

The saints aren't playing great either but I like them over the eagles at this point.

Both teams really suck. It amazes me how the saints have dropped off as a team this year. Philly has a bunch of problems also no doubt,

This is one of those games you just sit back and watch to see what plays out, not worth a nickel to bet on to many variables involved.

Basically, a toss up. The 3/3.5 is the standard homefield edge.

I put it out there and Michael Vick was not benched, I reported erroneous information out there (but I didn't based on rumors---reliable reports) but the Eagles got their asses waxed against a team that has a historically bad defense and did not cover anyway.

Take it from me, as a rabid Eagles fan that follows their every move, this is a team in total collapse. They are soft, they are uninspired, and the players know their mickey mouse coach, Andy Reid, is on the chopping block. They will be lucky to go 5-11 this season, and 3-13 would not be a shock they are that bad----I cant believe Vegas has favored them so much this season (Philly is 1-6-1 ats this season, 1-5-1 as faves!!!!); if Vegas favors this team in any game the rest of this season, write it off as "the line telling you something" against the other team because they cannot be that dumb.

This weekends line flip is not a joke; Vegas originally installed Philadelphia as a favorite (to be fair, before they played the Saints) but the public has correctly bet the line back in Dallas' favor after seeing that pathetic MNF performance. The only thing that can beat Dallas this weekend is Dallas (ie Romo), it wont be the Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles are a complete joke!

It's odd, the eagles had been so over hyped this and last year that last year I believe there was only 1 week in which the eagles were Not favored. It amazed me that the linesmakers kept going back to them.
So, seeing this year them as the favorite all but twice actually doesn't surprise me and I hope it continues as you can take it to the bank.

The drop off for the eagles wasn't as surprising as they didn't get to playoffs last year and little changed for this year to be different. They have a lot of talent but it's not being focused and you can see their attention waning. How can you Not run McCoy more often? unreal

The saints however, their free fall is astounding. Sean Payton isn't there but it's the same system, same players and they did so well last year you'd think they would have a clue this year. Spags has not gotten that D to do anything but their offense is capable of compensating (a la green bay and pats last year). Outside the chiefs doing so poorly that may be the biggest surprise this year.
