            woodee12,

Thanks very much for acknowledging my good night on Thursday but, unfortunately, it's been a struggle, overall, in the NBA this season. Each time I've thought the proverbial corner's been turned, an outcome like last night's slams the brakes on ... i.e. ATL's (-3) home loss to Was, in OT.

That said, playing pro hoops (like pucks & bases) is a long and winding road, not a sprint, and a solid week or two, or three, or four, etc., ... is just around the next bend.

Nice call on your part with G-State over Memphis.

See yesterday's game between Por/Tor (Double OT) as a prime example of the "unusual happening" right now which is hurting my % overall in the NBA this season.

At the end of regulation with Toronto up by 4 pts ...

                  - Travis Outlaw makes a 3-pter and is fouled on the play, with less than 20 secs left on the clock, then makes the FT to tie the game (how many times does this happen in a season?)
                  - Toronto then holds the ball for the last shot - instead of being up 3, 2 or 1 pt, in which case Portland would have been in a must foul situation - and ends up missing a driving shot by Bosh with no foul called sending it to the first OT
                  - at the end of the first OT, Portland is again down by 3 pts, this time with the ball, 9 secs left on the clock and inbounding from the sideline coming from a Trail Blazers time-out ... when they miss another 3-pter, have Brandon Roy corral the O-reb, dribble out to the top of the key with Jose Calderone in hot pursuit ... but without Calderone trying to foul Roy, despite the Raptors 3pt lead at the time!!! ... only to then see Roy take and make another game-tying dagger with 2 secs left on the clock ... which takes it to Double OT
                  - where the Blazers finally ran out of gas against Toronto, losing by 7 pts and failing to cover the number

As they say in this business ... stuff happens, from time to time ... and the best any of us can hope for, really, is to just ... Live and Fight Another Day, when the breaks fall our way.

I'm growing weary of losing games like last night's Por/Bos match-up ... when I had the correct side of the number with :50 left to go in the game, the Trail Blazers with the ball and down only 4 pts ... only to see them miss twice from the floor, plus a missed FTA (J Jack), with the C's making a last minute 3-pter (R Allen) and then closing it out at the foul line for a very dubious 10-pt victory ... !@#$%^&*

Finally ... turnabout is fair play, as the Blazers had no business covering last night's number, getting mauled by Miami in the 3rd quarter (19-35), storming back in the 4th - from a 7 point deficit - and, then, making a late 3 to push their margin above the line, leading by only 2 with < 2:00 to play.

                            Jan 19 Toronto -2.5

BTW, at Pinnacle, the line for tonight's game has now dropped to Tor/-2, after opening at -3.
