    College Looks Week 2

Here are some of my early plays for this week. I will stop back as the week goes with more comments on possible plays.

Please chime in as much as you want with yout thoughts and plays to as we move towards this weeks maychups.

Wiscy -1 at Fresno State...Think Wiscy is too much for Fresno here. I think they will surprise in the big 10 this year. Took care of Marshall last week scoring 51.

Illinois -24 over La-LAF...Cakewalk city here for Juice. Wanting to know what Carpet thinks on this one.

    USC -10 over USC...See Boone's other thread.

    Also Looking at
    BYU -9 over UCLA

    Iowa -13 over Iowa State

Tulane +13 vs. ECU...Let down on the road?

UNC +5 over Rutgers...UNC is my surprise ACC team I am watching.

    Rice +7 at Vandy

SD State +6 at San Jose....Too close of a game for anyone to be laying 6.

Will be back later as I look a bit closer at the board and see what the lines do early in the week.

A Response to Woodie on the Illini game

I am not going to do a big write up on Illinois
this week but happy to share my thoughts.

Illinois opens -24 vs the Raven Cajuns

The Cajuns are makeing a trip North to
Champaign Illinois on a old beat down Bus
some 900 miles to play Illinois....

    SNAP SHOT OF LOUISIANA LAFAYETE

Played SMiss 2 weeks ago and lost on the road
    51-21,

They have a terrible Run Defense giving up over
5 rushing td's for some 400 yards (that spells trouble
for them vs Illinois and Juice)

On Pass Defense they gave up 200 yards

    ILLINOIS

Illinois Lost DB Thomas for the season, a stand out
sophmore from morgan park Illinois in last weeks
    tune up game.

The Illini are juggiling the Safety corps until
    they find a good pairing.

Coach Zook said today " I voted us off the top 25
we are not playing the way we are capable of
    playing"

    FLOOR VIEW

My concern is that Zook will call off the Dogs
    in fear of Injury,

but it is balaced by the fact
Illinois Second string is better than the
    starters on the other team.

I would not want to be The Ragun Canjuns
on Saturday, and I cant believe they placed
    a line on this game

    Take Illinois Woodie

I love your pick on Wisky and agree
they are gonna be a suprise

Great RB in PJ Hill , solid solid team
    they should throttle Fresno State

I like UCLA in that BYU game. They were awesome vs Tennessee, plus they played BYU twice last year winning one by 10 pts and losing by 1 in the bowl game meeting. And they are better this year.

Although it was a blowout last week for the Badgers, they had a horrible 1st quarter, one of the worst quarters I've seen them play in a long time, but I guess it was just one quarter and they made the adjustments. Pat Hill was talking this game up before the season started as their biggest game of the year. The Badgers will be getting their TE, Travis Beckum, and their best LB, Casillas, back for this game as they sat out the last two. Just for that fact, I'd lean WI, but wouldn't be a confident play. Fresno could give them a run.

Hill may be a stud, but their redshirt 3rd string TB, John Clay, is a guy to watch.

I actually am loving Duke as a play Think they are up and coming and will beat Navy.

I am convinced that UCLA played their butt off against tenny and are a bit overvalued at this point. BYU has a bad week last week but I think they dominate UCLA at home.
    So far I have played:

    Wiscy-1
    USC -10
    Illinois -24
    Duke -1

Anything is possible...Duke is going to have to shut down Navy`s running game, not sure they can do that. Navy will have to shut down Duke`s passing game..not sure if they can do that...depends on who`s defense shows up to play, but I gotta give the Midshipmen some LOVE..Navy 24 Duke 17

Duke held Nothwestern to 77 yards on the ground last week, so I think their run D has the advantage and will stop the option attack.

Nice play on UNC. It was surprisingly one sided.

Why not Southern Miss +3 at Arkansas State?...Trying to see why arky state is favored? May be a classic trap game.

    Anyone have inisght on this?

Looked into it a bit more...

Arkanasas State did beat Texas A&M this year on the road.

But Southern Miss clobbered la Lafyette and then hung with Auburn on the road last week to stay within the number.

Think the A&M win is making Ark state look better than they are.

I think I will play on Southern Miss unless someone is seeing something I am not.

Yeah, S. Miss doesn't seem to be getting much respect this year with the new coach, new QB and new offensive scheme. They were my contest pick in Week 0, and I really wanted to go with them at Auburn, but I read too many other opinions which scared me off. I hate it when I do that. They could certainly win by 10 and not surprise anybody.

Might not be back before staurday afternoon--

heres the rest of my plays for the week--

    UNLV +23 at ASU..Lokk a head special.

Southern Miss +3 (buy 1/2) over Arky State..Have to do it--seems to obvious but if I leave it off my card it will win for sure.

Nevada +26.5 or more...over Mizzou-think Mizzou may be exposed again on D by nevada-we saw how many yards they gave up to Illinois and if its a shoot-out I am happy to have almost 4 TD's with a potent offense like Nevada (add most will say Texas Tech killed them last week , but see this stayinf within the number.)

My play in the contest is Iowa -13.5 over Iowa State...as much as I hate to say it, I htink Iowa Rolls this year over ISU who faces its first road game in very hostile conditions. BLACKOUT day in Iowa City. Iowa rolls.

wow..I`m opposite of the Woodman on quite a few of these. ASU will dominate UNLV, looking ahead? Maybe so, but UNLV will still get a thrashing....looks like Air Force will collect another win and Navy on top of Duke...close game...

Sorry Woodee on the Illinois call

The sure speed of those boys from the
South caused problems for Illinois Offense

Illinois Defense was solid, they won this game
    playing all 60 minutes

Illinois has a JagerNut of talent on both sides
of the ball, and are not playing to that level

A Team trying to find it self (that always worries me)

Next up Penn State and they are SOLID , one
of the Best Teams in the Nation in my opinion

2 weeks to correct this, it seems Illinois is
playing down to the level of teams they play
    and not their own

7-3 for the week last week.

13-7 YTD on my posted college plays this year.

Sinking my mind into this week's action...One that jumps off the board at me UL Monroe at Tulane...Monroe getting 6. Think this is a over-value from tulane stayin close vs. ECU last week. They aren't that good and Monroe is pretty solid so far. Going to dig deeper and will start a new thread later.
