The 3-1 Florida Gators will host the 4-2 LSU Tigers in an SEC matchup on Saturday night in Tallahassee in a Game that kicks off at 7:30 pm est. Currently LSU is a -1.5 point road favorite with a total of 47 at 5 dimes sportsbook.
This Game comes on the heels of LSU’s worst loss since 1999 which also makes it the worst loss since Les Miles took over as head coach in 2005. The LSU defense gave up more yards in consecutive SEC Games (Miss St and Auburn) than in any other two Game stretch in the schools history!
The Florida Gators, led by QB Jeff Driskel, should be a welcome site for a Tigers defense looking to rebound. The Gators can run the ball some, but Driskel hasn’t been much of a threat through the air and should be much more containable than what LSU had to deal with against Auburn and Miss State.
The last two Games in this series saw a total of 43 points in the two Games combined as LSU won at home last year 17-6 and Florida won in 2012 at home 14-6. We expect more of the same this time around. Both offenses have had their troubles this year with inexperienced QB’s in the case of LSU and Jeff Driskel in the case of Florida, and despite what Miss State and Auburn did to LSU, we still think this team can play some defense.
Our numbers, including Our model have this as a close low scoring Game. If either side were getting +3 or more, we’d be tempted to take the points. But sometimes, the oddsmakers get it right and as far as the side goes in this one, we think the line is accurate. Our gut says that LSU bounces back after a humiliating loss last week and grabs the win and cover here but that’s just a hunch. The stronger play would look to be under the total as both of these teams pound the ball and keep that clock moving.
