WagerWeb.com POSTS ODDS ON: "WHO WILL BE THE 2004 MLB NL WILDCARD?"

(Zapote, Costa Rica, 06 September 2004)- There is no other way to put it. The NL wildcard and playoff race is insane, as eight teams are, in essence, fighting for three playoff spots in the NL, with one of them being the wildcard. Only 6.5 games separate the wildcard leading Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants from the Phillies. Add in the fact, that the Los Angeles Dodgers, who currently lead the NL West, only have a 3.5 game lead on the Giants, and it only adds to the drama.

With fewer than 30 games to play in the regular season, every game for these teams is of major importance. Considering the new unbalanced schedule, and that most of the teams in the wildcard race are in the same division, they are going to be seeing a lot of each other in the last month of the season. On top of that, add the fact that other teams in the same division as the wildcard contenders will be looking to play spoiler as many of those teams like the Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets were once in the wildcard race themselves.

"The fact that only 6.5 games separate the Giants/Cubs and the Phillies, with three teams in between, leaves open many possibilities" said Dave Johnson, CEO of WagerWeb.com. "The cliche every game counts,' could not be more true going down the stretch this season in NL wildcard race. We have gotten significant wagers on all the teams still alive in the wildcard race, as well as a decent amount of wagers on the current NL West leader Los Angeles Dodgers."

This is one of the closest and most exciting wildcard races since MLB added the wildcard team in the early 90's. It is going to come down to which teams can stay healthy and stay focused enough that they do not slip in games they should win, especially against teams that are out of the race. They also must defeat the other teams that they are competing with to get into the playoffs. It is very likely that the NL wildcard race will go on until the last game of the regular season.

    About WagerWeb.com

WagerWeb is a privately held, offshore, online, gaming company. It is fully licensed and is located in beautiful San Jose, Costa Rica, a major center of online gaming. It got into the business in a very deliberate and independent way. Nine years ago, several staffers, now management of WagerWeb, got together to review the state of the online gambling industry. They quickly concluded that there was extraordinary potential for success, and they also realized there was a clear need for a professional, secure and service driven facility for the growing numbers of online players.

Characteristically, the WagerWeb planners got off to a quick start. WagerWeb created a modest internet business that appeared to meet the perceived need. During the intervening years since then, it has continually proved it has the right formula, because it has grown and improved every year. Today, it is part of an expanding affiliate network that includes over fifty sports book companies.

WagerWeb now offers online and telephone sports betting, casino gambling, horse racing and Poker rooms. It specializes in propositional wagering, in fact, it appears to be setting the example and leading the way.

Behind the action and the play offered by WagerWeb is a knowledgeable and respected staff. They recognize the universal fact that players, i.e., their many guests, come first. Customer service, we are told, is more than a polite catch-phrase, it is more like a way of life at WagerWeb. The staff continually strive to ensure the security, privacy, and quick service for all of their customers.
