  • Hockey...I want AMERICAN Lines!!!

I am very, very disappointed that some of my favorite sportsbooks using the very, very solid and now (since the upgrade very, very fast) Unified Gaming Software such as Island, IGN, Gamblers Palace, Money Plays, Players Bet, Go To and others, have decided to terminate hockey wagering utilizing American Lines.

I have said in a previous post that they are all individually owned and operated, yet, like sheep, they follow the misinformed linesmakers decision to abandon the American lines which would definitely over the course of a season be more profitable for them, but they choose to follow what the software makers decision, without thinking what the players want and without understanding the complexities of what their ultimate profitability will be.

Since a half a puck is worth forty to fifty cents, then using the American lines which offer a half puck less at even money would net the sportsbooks 20 to 25 cents depending on how many games hit the number by the end of the season. Over the course of the season, statistical probabilities and the law of large numbers would come into effect, thus ensuring their outcome.

I am very disappointed that these books have chosen to abandon the American Lines and I am especially shocked that Island and IGN, who controls their own payouts, and is one of the oldest and well-respected of ANY book, has removed the choice that other books of their lofty stature offers.

The other stand-up books out there such as Skybook, NASA, Casablanca, Premiere, WWTS and virtually all the "real" books on the feed make you choose American or Canadian Lines at the beginning of the season and you must stick with that throughout the season.

I certainly won't be playing anymore into any books that don't offer me these lines I am used to and use exclusively.

Please guys, chime in and tell me which books offer American Puck Lines and don't make you jump through hoops (like putting on a supervisor every time you want them), and make you feel like you're absolutely nuts for wanting them.

So, please, which solid books offer American lines so I can move my funds to them.

You want american lines, what are you retarded. Call a couple of the big books up, unless your only betting a dollar a game they would be happy to offer you an USA (rip off line)

            First, you wrote,

"They follow the misinformed linesmakers decision to abandon the American lines which would definitely over the course of a season be more profitable for them, but they choose to follow what the software makers decision, without thinking what the players want and without understanding the complexities of what their ultimate profitability will be.

            Then you said,

"I certainly won't be playing anymore into any books that don't offer me these lines I am used to and use exclusively."

            Does this make sense?

Do you have any reasons why you like those lines besides you are used to it?

              Ray...

I have many reasons for desiring American lines, none of which I would divulge here and come under the heading "trade secrets," but I am just one of thousands of hockey wagerers...

Am I the only one who desires these long-standing puck lines, or is it not important to anyone else but me. If so, I stand corrected. Please chime in and advise. Thanks.

I respect your decision for not sharing your "trade secret".

But to me, its not a good choice at all.

IMHO, there are fewer and fewer lazy and non-qualified BMs for American Sports nowadays.

Which puck line will be worth a look under this situation.

The only reason that I could think of a puck line would be valuable is those lines don't seem to move. While the steam can move the Canadian or moneyline up and down for 30 or 40 cents, the puck line will normally stay at their original quote.

Then you MAY get your 30 cents margin over the line.

Sometime, some books won't even move it even the Canadian moved more than 50 cents or so because they are lazy.

But that was then and it is now.

I've seen more books with better and smarter guys handling those lines and their errors and your margin is getting smaller.

If you still want to bet those lines, give the books on your left a call, I gurantee most of them are more than happy to take your bets.

Ray, have read about puck lines being useful in some circumstances, as being value in a particular case, would not be in a lot though, I would think...

I think I know why Boomer desires the american lines. Out of courtesy I shall keep my guess to myself but I will agree with him that they can be very useful at times. Not many times, but at certain times they are better.

Just wanted to let everyone know that 5dimes.com offers more hockey options than ANYWHERE else.
Not only does 5dimes.com offer a money line on each game, but also a -1/2 canadian line and a -1 canadaian line.
5 Dimes also offers intermission odds as well as team goal totals on most ESPN and EPSN2 games.

alright all you hockey players. How will the new overtime rules, which don't allow ties I think, affect how you bet and does it make one kind of line better than before?

Island still has American lines as of Saturday. They switched to Canadian for one day and then switched back again.

They are the only book out of my twelve that offer American. I keep them around for that reason. Occasionally American lines offer an advantage but not very often.

You'd be crazy to bet exclusively American.
