YOUBET was raided in LA....this is the horse racing outfit we see advertising all over the net and YES...spamming through the mail. BIG MISTAKE THERE.

The goofiest part of this whole thing has got to be there management. Here's a lead in on the story:
The company doesn't actually accept bets, he said; and it transmits wagering information to licensed horse-racing tracks.

Nobody deserves to get harassed by the govt. but this looks like a case where doing business in Nevada may have cured the problem of getting busted.
Unless, of course some of their 12,000 subscribers were sports books, and by operating outside of LV they didn't need a gaming license?
I'm just speculating here - I have no idea accept that it appears the raid didn't surprise anyone.
Their stock was off a buck and half of friday.

Despite the fact that I think Youbet is full of it for reasons I won't go in to here, I resent this action by the so called government of the people.

Stay tuned for Monday, I've been doing a lot of research regarding the RCMP and with some help from others, hopefully I'll have a nice little story in Sting's Buzz Bin.
In a nutshell, 3 I-gaming companies have as their directors persons who at one time served in the RCMP (now remember, the RCMP raided Starnet 2 months ago):
1) Cryptologic - the company that oversees their security is run by Norman Inkster, former head of the RCMP and Interpol. he also is friendly with one of the directors at Crypto.
2) E-Vegas Casino (aka Wager2000) - Poor Sid ******* (the Vegas legend) is probably going to have his rep ruined. He should have done his research before hooking up with Ed Gallagher who runs this company which is about to become a delisted stock next week. Not sure if Sid may be a victim in this. Gallagher is a 20 year vet of the RCMP. He has also started numerous pump and dump companies (this being his latest). His previous company, Rangestar, left investors high and dry. Yes, E-Vegas readilly admitted that their Costa Rican sportsbook was being operated by former Sports International management and they did indeed use the Intersphere software, that is owned by Michael Simone, in fact his email address is Intersphere.com. Of course it's perfectly all right for Simone and his partner, an exconvict who served several years for stock fraud, to be operating an I-Gaming company out of Vancouver which clearly accepts bets from US citizens (i.e. 123 Casino)
3) Tropika International is the latest I-Gaming company to feature as one of its directors a former Canadian Mounty.
As told to me and I have confirmed, the RCMP is like the keystone cops. One can call Mr. Halawana (Superintendent of the RCMP) and get all the info they would like. A silly class action suit was filed today against Starnet by some former investors and one might wonder if a similar class action suit may not be filed against the RCMP.

This stuff just makes me sick. The Hyporcicy of it all. You have Guliani and Pataki all over the media BETTING with The Mayor of Boston, or The Mayor of Atlanta, etc., etc., etc., but G-D Forbid a Company is set up to take Bets from People, be it racing or Sports, and The Friggin Governments of the US and Canada Freak out and Raid them!!! Meanwhile OJ still plays Golf, and The Ramsey Grand Jury returns no Indictment. What is going on in this world??? I'M MAD AS HELL AND I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE, to quote a great philosopher.

I'm with you all the way, Skeptic. I think the people need to follow the old French way and start choppin' heads. Bring out the guillotine! Seriously, the gov't officials make insane and draconic laws because they don't exactly have to abide by them. Make ever politician's stay in power limited to four years and none of them would make these laws, because in four years (or less) they would have to live like normal people.
Why do you think I left the US? All cause of Insane laws which don't exactly suit my lifestyle. Even small things, like I don't expect to be put in jail for crossing the speed limit by 30mph! And this is just a small thing...

I'm with you Skeptic.
Although we still may have a few long shot options to try before shooting the bastards
(like we had to in 1776).
1. New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson and U.S. Congressman Ron Paul (Texas) are 2 out of a handfull of those elected to high office who aren't afraid to speak out against the government policies in this country that are designed by snoopy Church Ladies. There is an internet petition to Draft Ron Paul to run for President as a Reform/Libertarian Party fusion candidate at http://www.majority.com.
There is an internet petition to Draft Gary Johnson to run for President at http://www.garyjohnson2000.org. If somebody out there could convince Jesse Ventura to annoint either of these 2 guys as his choice for the Reform Party nomination, America might really shock the world again just like we did in 1776.
2. Support the South Dakota petition drive to amend the South Dakota state constitution to protect defendant's rights to a Fully Informed Jury http://www.justiceunlimited.org. A victory in South Dakota could start a chain reaction across the country.
