  • MAJOR BOOOO TO NASA AND It's DECEPTIVE TACTICS A MUST READ

I come home today and find the following e-mail.

Please note I have left it in tact, I will also tell you that the to [email protected]
is not my mailing address in any such fashion.

This e-mail was sent to an AOL address.

This kind of deceptive practice by these con artists is totally unacceptable.

Tell em to stick it where the sun don't shine, unless you are a nudist beach....

    Dear Sports Fan,

We are letting you know that as of 11/30/99 a rival company has stolen our website and we are in the middle of litigation to correct this. Our new website will be www.nasasportspages.com. If you type in the old address you will be taken to the competitor that did the hacking. This is a desperate attempted by them to steal clients from us, take that, as you will. We just wanted to make sure that you knew who you were singing up with.
If you have any questions about what happened or just need some info about or sportsbook feel free to call us at 1-800-777-1735 anytime.

    Thanks,
    Alexander Lamb

        Sorry,
I think i'm missing the point here. How can someone steal someone elses web site?
Did they go out and forget to put it away?

I'm totally lost on this one. The industry's been a little slow the last week or so and this should really heat things up.

I am still stupified over this. Exactly how does one steal another persons site.

Why haven't they hacked BW and stole the whole site and turned it into the Martha Stewart network or something.

What I think is these clowns are so desparate for buisness they need to create controversy or hoopla to draw attention to themselves.

Bad enough they make the e-mail recepient probably someone non existent.

As I am with ever thinking of visiting their website nonetheless giving them any of my money.

How many other got this and did you guys have that name it was addressed to in mine or someone else, or was it to you directly ???

              Just a stupid question but...

Is there a posibility that both Nasa's are in this together? Soon maybe a major problem they can pin on this.

A web-site can be copied or pirated verbatum and placed elsewhere on the net. In fact----someone did that with this very BettorsWorld site (several weeks ago) by simply changing the Domain name slightly (one letter) and lo- and- behold produced a web site on the net duplicating this one that could have fooled a lot of NEW patrons to the site. I don't believe however it got off the ground because anyone who knew the real BWorld knew this imposter was a sham. But ---it can happen.

Almost anything conceivable can be pulled off on the internet. Who is going to lock up an unscrupulous person for doing what ever they choose to do? A con artist or desperate person who knows their way around basic computer programming can have almost limitless opportunities to scam, imposter, sabotage and deceive on the net.. Who do you go to for a court order to have someone cease and desist if they suddenly copy or pirate your site ? Do you go to the Interactive Gaming Commission? (LOL). Is there any law enforcement agency you can go to with your tale of woe to have an arrest made for reasonable cause? In what state? What country? Just because an internet business is registered at a certain place it doesn't mean the people operating that site even have to be in the same hemisphere. Most web-sites have a "copy right" declaration on their bottom front page.. I guarantee very few are of these copyright warnings are little more than a bluffs. Most lawyers don't have a clue about internet matters, and those that do will put you in the poor house long before any recoveries can be made----if in fact---- they can be made. Think about how difficult it would be to sue and recover from even someone operating in a bordering state with a nomadic business with aliases and the abilities to dissappear on a moments notice.

This is the cyber world. Whose jurisdiction (if any) is what or who under? Scams and shams can be limitless.. Someone could duplicate a site--solicit business and get your post-up funds--- and not even be the person you think you are dealing with. Just have to change an e-mail address slightly for correspondence purposes and the address as to where the moneys going. One of the off-shore managers that is a frequent poster here fecetiously made a remark to another bookie-connected person on these boards "Do we really want to let anyone know where we are?" Sometimes the more I think about it when my sensibiities are intact the scarier it gets. There are people who may not like the way I portray things but I ususally see things as they are. You can never be too careful about who you deal with, and never let yourself get lulled into a false comfort zone with anyone on the net unless you know who you are dealing with personally. Even then be careful and not overexpose yourself. Sure--- there are "places" out there with impeccable records, but in this business the test of time has been a very short test of time!

                  Good point DOT......

I for one didnt know this site was ransacked.....

Pretty amazing, now if they can go into my WSEX account and add some zero's at the end

All kidding aside, people that attempt to do such things are really sad.

My main concern is over this NASA outfit, blindly sending out e-mails as such to BW patrons.

Where did they get our e-mails, someone had to sell it to them, I am NOT implying it was BW. I dont think they do it, nor would they choose to.

                  However someone out there has....

At least give us a straight scoop, saying hey we are NASA why don't you try us out, were out of this world.....

                  I should do campaigns......

Which NASA is this? And is this the same one or different than in the other thread?

FWIW, OSGA says that Nasa International (Betonsports.com) "Purchased" the nasasports.com website. The intrigue with the 2 Nasas continues to amaze me, and can only be a negative for both.

At this point I am unsure which is which. It seems to me more and more they are both one in the same, trying to creat hype, controversy etc etc to keep their name(s) in the public view.

I want someone from the real or fake NASA to come into this thread and straighten this whole thing out once and for all.

Probably will never happen, due to the fact, that they would further embarass themselves and we would chew them up.

                          Freak,

That's my thinking about these Nasa's. If this wasn't the case why did they split up and both use the same names.

                          And then this...........

could someone, anyone, brian, jeff, sting, hartly, anyone else, PLEASE clear something up, as i've heard SO many RUMORS on the net...

does nasa owe someone (billy walters) $500,000 or not?
if so, why are they allowed to advertise here? if not, why did walters hire ken hense to get his money back?

i know nasa is big but i feel FUNNY about sending them any money

if they pay most people but not a few that's just as bad as not paying anyone, right?

can we NAIL this dam thing down PLEASE?
