  • OSGA: Good or evil?

    The Offshore Gaming Association

What's the story on these guys? Are they good or bad? I'm thinking of doing a column mentioning them, but I don't want to trash them unwarranted.

On the surface, they look like the funniest scam out there. From what I can tell, it looks like you only get a good review if you agree to advertise on their site. I mean, they left off some of the best books out there.

From past postings, I saw some similar skepticism. Has there been any more news? Has anybody actually been helped by these guys?

I've seen countless complaints about NASA in this forum. Has anybody tried to resolve an issue about them with the OSGA, which recommends them highly?

http://www.osga.com/ if you want to check them out. But beware! Their site crashes my browser about 40% of the time.

I'm replying in response to the OSGA (Off Shore Gaming Association). I am a professional gambler and play with many of their sportsbooks that they endorse. They have never steered me wrong. I play with Nasa, First Fidelity, and Gameday and have never had any problem whatsoever. They've even intervened on my behalf when there was a question on a particular bet with Nasa and a guy named Greg Champion from Nasa straightened it out immediately, after I told him that I called the OSGA first.
I recently also signed up with betmaker and love the service I get there. I also inquired about WWTS and Victor Chandler and they had nothing but good things to say about them. They never tried to steer me to a book that belonged to their organization. These are honest people that seem to be looking out for our interest.

      Hey AussieVamp,

Greg Champion has given up writing songs about Gary Ablett and gone to work at NASA?

(Won't make any sense to people of the Northern Hemisphere)

        Hey Lou,

Don't know nothin about OSGA, but I enjoy your column. Do you guys know it?

        Lou's Views

He tells some funny stories, there's occasionally some decent handicapping commentary, and he follows the bussiness end of sports betting in kind of a watch dog way.

dunno about Champs - he likes the Crows, so he should start a book in SA so we can get Adelaide biased lines

Yeah, I have read his column

oh yeah, Lou - read your bit about SU percentages of large college BB favorites last year, they are doing very nicely at the moment this year too of the 15 point at home variety especially

            Guys,

Thanks for the plug, j. Very kind, and I wasn't expecting it.

I was hoping for more info on the OSGA, but so far there hasn't been much interest.

              No offense Todd,
I wish first-time posters would ask a question first instead of raving about the great things from a company that's in question. It smacks of shilling. I find it hard to believe that a company who accepts ad's from sportsbooks could really have my best interest at heart. How about the Caribbean Sports Book Council (CSBC), anybody rememeber them?

Lou look at all the top books that dont advertise with them. Look at their rankings and when your done laughing at that, think to yourself how can they even formulate rankings.
                Hope that answers it all
                Take care Steve

Lou I was mad at myself for my last post. I was saying to myself dont be one of these guys who only goes by what they here. I knew what I said was true and made sense but I wanted to know more. I visited the site for the first time ever afterward. The first thing i saw was a reader asking a question about a client getting STIFFED , NOT PAID, SCREWD, by a book. Then OSGA reponded by saying this, Well this book says in all their adds and by laws that they dont take bets from syndicates. What the hell is that. We reserver the right not to pay you if you win, our dicression , give me a break. Im sick to my stomach right now.
Well now Im sure that helps you even more and me telling the truth can only hurt me. Ihope you understand and appreciate that.
                  Take care Steve
P.S thanks for the new topic idea

In the beginning, I was disturbed by the OSGA's bashing of Post Time Sports...apparent emails from angry clients. Don't know of any angry clients who play with Post Time Sports so I really had to question the authenticity of such emails.

Their site appears to have improved and I have recently come across some positives regarding books that do NOT advertise on their site including Post Time.

I for one find myself visiting the site now on a regular basis compared to before. Their content has improved and as for now they do not permit needless bashing.
