Well, what I mean that you can find an Euro book to bet the 3-way is,

if you are really worrying about the OT will kill you, you can always lay a bet on the TIE over there as an insurance.

Other than that, their lines are totally worthless as AV had mentioned about the vig.

But those Euro books are not dummies, couple years ago, you can still find the TIE at around 6.0 (5-1) for most close games, but last year it had been dropped to around only 4.3 to 4.8.

So, another prove of "no free lunch in this world".

Ray, not totally worthless, especially not for favorites - if we are talking NHL only, say you want to bet a game like L.A. - Atlanta from the other night, but don't want to give up a goal? Rather than -1.5 at even, or whatever, can bet 1.55 to win in regulation, for example

as in all 3-ways, ties/away teams generally get shaved the most due to big home advantages, but that still doesn't make it worthless, just not as good as getting 2-way 20cent action

I don't know who I'm agreeing with, but somebody brought this point up:

If you're so concerned about the overtime screws, just bet the money line.

Let's face it, the NHL loves the new system, the fans love the new system, and frankly I like watching it too. It's here to stay, get used to it.

Yes, it changes the game, and changes the way you have to handicap the game - but no more so than the "left-wing lock" did by dropping the average total score from 7.5 to 5. All the new rules do is swing the pendulum back slightly to favor faster teams in OT.

Don't expose yourself to the ties and bet the money line. It works, trust me.

Lou how does betting the moneyline avoid the problem of ties. If it's tied after regulation you still lose if the other team scores in OT.

Hey, don't want to start a war of words again with OLDMAN - but - what's your point?

            ahh, never mind.

              Hartley,

I thought you are a smart guy.

              Ana +.5 -140

              moneyline, Ana +100

Instead of playing Ana +.5 -140, just play Ana to win at moneyline +100.

If you really afraid Ana will lost in OT (thats why you are worrying about you paying nothing for that extra half goal), take that extra 40 cents (or 30 cents, depending on how much confidence you have on Ana) that you get from the moneyline and bet the TIE (assuming you will get 4.8).

It ain't too bad a deal at all.
