Actually there are a couple of exceptions, but the vast majority certainly require credit card refunds first.

My presumption is that they recover some of the credit card fee that they incurred when the deposit was made.

For those books that provide no-fee credit card deposits (basically they eat the few percent that the bank charges them), it could get pretty expensive for players who make credit card deposits and withdraw via check.

        spartan,

These issues are usually in a sportsbook's rules and/or cashier section, readily available to prospective clients. If they are not, a simple phone call would answer your questions. I make all deposits via credit card, and personally find it very convenient when a book pays me back through a credit. I don't use Olympic, but they are highly recommended by the vast majority, and are not exercising unconventional policy when they choose to first credit your card.

          spartan,

Just performed a search on your username for this forum. All of your recent comments seem to bash Olympic. There are ways to bring about criticism constructively, and not be so terribly harsh. Maybe you are associated with a rival book, have some strange alternate agenda, or get your kicks off negativity; however, if none of the above is the case, then why don't you just find another book?

            Gooden,

It seems to me that your are on the defensive BUDDY

What are you talking about. Olympic is the only book I actually do use. I was just trying to find out an answer to a question. SO do me a favor, next time just sit back and watch the parade go by instead of joining in.

Olympic is a good solid strong book and holding and refunding credit cards is about as standard in the industry as you get.

I'm not trying to take sides here, but if this practice bothers you Spartan, post-up using cash via Western Union as they will reimburse you here.

Those of us who regularly post on this site depend on the very few books that are exemplary in almost every aspect of the way they conduct business. We cherish books like Olympic who are so strong in so many aspects, we don't like them to be disparaged when the good outweighs the bad one hundredfold.

The reasoning is simple. Credit card fraud is one of the major problems in today's society as it relates to sportsbooks. Most people hate the cards, but they are convenient. To guard against someone using your card and then getting it all sent back via cheque, any good book will make you at least return the initial deposit back to the card.
A couple of places in Australia don't do that, and honestly, it concerns me that they don't pay enough attention to this problem.

Thanks guys for the explanation, I usually post up cash instead of credit cards , so I thought payouts were the same way, Sorry about that . Talk to you soon

No, not defensive at all. Just kinda feel sorry for you that you cannot articulate your complaints with a bit more tact. Your preference of departure, Spartan, usually proves to be one's "Achilles Heel". I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your search for an "honest book".
