  • Thanks To Everyone!

I am a sportsbettor based in South Lake Tahoe and have been looking to open some offshore accounts. I had no idea where to find reputable offshore books until a friend suggested Bettorsworld to me. I've been coming to this forum regularly for the last 6 months or so and feel that I have gained valuable insight into the pros and cons of offshore sportsbetting by reading these posts.

I would like to personally thank everyone who has posted their experiences - positive and negative. I now feel that I am ready to "take the plunge". In fact, I plan on opening my first account this week at Olympic. Other places I'm considering at the moment are Premier League, WSEX, Carib, GoTo Sportsbook, Victor Chandler, and WWTS. Any opinions on these books, or any others I've left out, would be welcomed.

Also, if anyone has any questions about sportsbetting in South Lake Tahoe I would be happy to answer them if I can.

Once again, my heartfelt thanks to everyone for all their informative and educational posts!

Alpine, I just returned from a ski trip to Tahoe. What a beautiful place!

You should take care about your location and intentions, however, with regards to the state laws there. I understand that Nevada has very strict rules concerning offshore wagering.

    Good luck.

      Thanks BigMoney,

Actually, I live on the California side of Lake Tahoe - so I won't have to worry about Nevada's offshore wagering rules.

Glad you enjoyed your ski trip!

Alpine, you have a solid list of books there. I have or have had an account with all of them except Goto. They have all been reasonably positive experiences. Two other books that I've been with for more than 2 yrs and that you may wish to consider are Post-Time and Royal. I would recommend them without reservation. No, I'm not connected in any way with them except for being their satisfied customer. Good luck!

            Alpine,

I use WSEX, CARIB and though all the books you mentioned are quality, I do love WSEX and Carib. Nice people, bettable lines and fast service. I am alos looking at Olympic - they seem to have fair lines as well. Wherever you go - Good Luck,

            Sonny

                  Alpine

Could you give me a few sportsbooks to visit with high limits on NBA sides.

Do you have any advise on places to stay while in Tahoe?

                  Thanks

I like the sports book at the Incline Hyatt though it's certainly not for big players. I remember putting $30 bucks on the Vikings as a road dog in Tampa when ESPN was just starting its Sunday night telecasts. The teller told me that I was the only guy all day who had bet the Vikings. I knew I had a winner right there and then, but still sweated as I believe the Viks covered while losing the game and it may have been a backdoor cover as that. Just like I knew I had a loser when the guy behind me in line at Karl's Club in Sparks said, "Gee, that's a lot of money to put on a football game," right after I had made my bet on Kansas plus 4x against Oklahoma. The game was over by halftime.

As for offshore outs, I recommend SOS, Premiere and Post-Time. The latter have low limits while SOS puts out an early line. All 3 are reputable.

                      Maximum Value,

There are 5 sportsbooks on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe but only one of them has high limits on NBA sides. Now that Caesars is a Hilton satellite, they will take 5 dimes on NBA sides. The other 4 casinos will probably only take a dime or so, although you might be able to talk Harveys and Lakeside into giving you a little more than that! If a dime's not enough, let me know before you come up and I'll talk to the manager at Lakeside and see if I can get your limits raised.

As far as places to stay... that question is a little more difficult. It kinda depends on what you're looking for. If money is no object, then Harrahs and Caesars are both top-of-the-line. If you'd like to stay in one of the casinos without spending too much then check out Horizon or Lakeside. If you want to get the full "Tahoe experience", Inn By The Lake is a nice place with many lakeview rooms. You could also rent a vacation home for a few days in the beautiful Tahoe Keys - but that'll cost you! If you want additional information (like phone numbers, etc.), let me know.

                      Hope this helps.

                        DeacDoug,

You're right, the North Shore is not exactly a hotbed of sportsbetting activity. Thanks for the recommendations!

Alpine, I haven't been up to Tahoe for a couple of years. Is it true that Hwy 50 as it nears Stateline is becoming a real traffic nightmare? My secretary told me that she & friends spent 40 mins. crawling along there from the time they could see the casinos to actually getting there. And this was on a Saturday coming into town!
                          Thanks

                            Chestrockwells,

Your secretary might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Usually the traffic is not nearly that bad. However, it can get pretty busy heading into the casinos Saturday in late afternoon/early evening. Also, you don't want to leave town Sundays unless you have no other choice, especially during snow season! If you're coming into town from the West (San Francisco, Sacramento, etc.), you're usually way better off taking Pioneer Trail into the casinos than Highway 50. Pioneer Trail runs (roughly) parallel to Hwy 50 and usually has much less traffic on the weekends. Traffic is rarely a problem Monday thru early Friday unless they're working on the roads (the roads take quite a beating up here).

Thanks again for your earlier recommendations!
