  • Let's leave Don Best alone!!!

Alot of people are ragging on Dana Corbo and Don Best when he has absolutely nothing to do with this twenty cent line change.

Dana runs a line service, a damn good line service and like a newspaper, he reports lines which is no different then when a newspaper reports on stories.

The lines he publishes he does so because those of us that pay for his service want to see them in real time in one place. He provides an information service, that is all. Where some people got the convulted idea that Dana Corbo is somehow in collusion with the books on the feed is ridiculous.

He is no more responsible for sportsbooks choosing to go a twenty cent line than The New York Times is for reporting a murderer. They report the news, that is all.

Along that same line, if the Don Best Feed does not do me any good because I will not use the books that have twenty cent lines, then I will drop the feed as it is my right to do so.

Enough people wanting to see differnent books on the feed and having a situation wherein his clientele were offered no value by the books with twenty cent lines that were on there, this would necessitate Dana to reevaluate what sportsbooks he featured. Again, it is market-driven. There is no business without customers.

If that is the case and we as Don Best clients really find no value in having the feed during baseball season (and I do know yet if that will be the case or not), either a competitor will come in and offer a service featuring sportsbooks we do want, or Dana will amend the feed during bases to give his clients what they want. Period.

But leave the guy alone, he's a stand-up guy and everyone in and out of the business knows it.

    I second the motion.

And I hope the players / subscribers have more influence on which books make the feed, than do the high-profile books themselves.

I would say that 98% of posters here (and probably all the knowledgeable ones) agree with Boomer.

I agree with you guys but wasn't he at the meeting? Why if he's just a line service?

            Dana

I only said that because I read in an earlier post you were going.

Do you or anyone else have input as to which books attended? Was it only Costa Rica books?
Were other islands represented? I would like to know.

Lets leave Dana alone...yada yada yada....Lets see, Dana did you have anything to do so with the organizing of the meeting in Costa Rica? And if so, why would you organize a meeting whose main topic was moving to the twenty cent line, and in turn, stab the players in the back, who use your service, to try and gamble, and win?? Wouldnt you think that would be a conflict of interest??? Why not stay out of it, and just postthe numbers each off shore book, wants posted, instead of being a tool, in a movement that is obviously not beneficial to the majority of players??..An one last thing, what is so great abou tDon Best line service, does it take a "lawyer" to punch in differant numbers, to show changes, hey Dana, why not tell us which group is moving the number, that would be helpful......

That away Dana, you run your business the way you see fit. A very wise man once said, if you try to please everybody, you will end up pleasing nobody. You and your company are great assets to the industry. Keep up the good work.

This reminds me of listening to all the monday morning quarterbacks talking about a questionable coaching decision on Sunday.

If the questionable play works, the coach is a hero. If the play fails, the coach is a bum and should be fired.

If as a result of this meeting, the books decided to deal a nickel line, Dana would be a hero.

This is a case where one hand washes the other, plain and simple.

Without the cooperation and willingness of the most solid shops in the industry to post their lines, there would be no Don Best feed.

On the flip side, the books benefit by gaining customers and respect as a result of being on the feed.

No harm in helping to arrange a meeting between several books who all have one thing in common.....the feed.

This 20 cent deal is waaaaaaaay over exaggerated. We've been getting reports trickling in from SEVERAL MAJOR books that have said they will stick to a dime. They will make announcements when they are ready, but it looks as though probably close to 50% of the well known books will be dealing a dime this baseball season.

Hopefull some of these that aren't on the feed, will be.

It's really not fair to point fingers here. Dana and Company are not just a "line service" for players. They are also a line service for the books. They probably have almost as many bookmakers as clients as they do players. So to say that there needs to be loyalty to one side or the other is simply not accurate.

Dana needs to keep the interests of both sides in mind, which I think he has done quite well. It's certainly not an easy situation.

                          Great Post Jeff!

I agree 100%. Dana should not be getting grief over the decisions of how someone else wants to run their business!

I don't subscribe to Don Best, nor do I intend to bet on baseball this season. But I still don't understand the rude and unprofessional responses that I see on this forum.

DoubleJJ might be asking legitimate questions or he might just be try to stir up trouble, but Don Best is a service that caters to customers, and that response by Don Best is inappropriate.

If Don Best thinks he is being an "arrogant jerk", then why do you have to stoop to his level?

When people are on your side, you are all appreciative and full of thank you's. When someone like DoubleJJ comes along, you start ranting and raving, and tell him ( a possible customer) to "shut the f*** up".
                            Really classy, Don Best.

I am astonished by the lack of professionalism that people here tolerate. I for one will never subscribe to Don Best if he has an attitude like that. And I could just hear Don Best mouthing to himself "like I give a s**t".

I am not defending DoubleJJ, but the response by Don Best lacks any class, and that response will reflect on his company, and how they deal with hostile situations.

Even those of you who back Don Best should be ashamed of that kind of response. Boomer, please defend that kind of response by Don Best, as you seem to be one of his biggest backers.

There is nothing to defend. We are all human beings here and we all have feelings. Everyone has a certain boundaries and limits which they deem to be acceptable behavior.

When I feel I am being personally attacked instead of being dealt a contrasting opinion, I choose not to respond although I must admit sometimes it is hard.

Whatever anyone has to say, there's no place for personal affronts or rudeness. This DoubleJJ has been attacking Dana in many threads (very nastily I might add) and Dana finally had enough. I would have never said a word and ignored him.
