  • Excalibur Update

I just visited the Excalibur to deposit some money in a phone account, and, lo and behold, they had figured out that I was the guy who wrote the entertaining, but not too flattering, post titled "The Second Worst Don Best Sportsbook." For those of you who don't know or remember, this post appeared in Bettorsworld last baseball season and its gist was that the Excalibur was derelict in updating its lines on the Don Best screen.

Well, to be fair, I think its appropriate that I provide an update on the currrent state of the Excalibur sportsbook. First, they now seem to be doing a good job updating their lines on the Don Best screen. Second, they still have a 10-cent line in baseball. Third, their limits, though low by offshore standards, are as high as any in Vegas. Fourth, they do open with opinionated lines that sometimes vary noticably from the Don Best average.

The bottom line is that the Excalibur, relative to baseball, is currently the best phone account in Vegas.

      Reno,

Thanks for the update. Is their maximum still $2000 on sides and $500 on totals?

Do you know anything about the "Chinese group" that is betting baseball?

Octan 21, I don't know anything about the Chinese group. The Excalibur takes 2 dimes on sides and a nickel on totals, the same as the Hilton, which now has a 15-cent line as opposed to a 10-cent line last season.

          Thanks Reno,

I'll deposit $500 in your account next time I'm in the Excalibur.

I stayed at the Excalibur in '97 and '98 (the kids liked the castle thing) but all I remember was the cruddy 30 cent hockey lines.

            Now that was medieval.
