  • reno....bama allows hookers?

    This is a non-sports post but I don't know
how many people read the off-topic area,
and was wondering if anyone is from Alabama
    or what Reno's is:

I always thought Nevada to be to the only
    state where prostitution was legal.
I read today on a local news feed that apparently a group of female legislators are trying to put a bill through in the
Alabama legislature that would outlaw prostitution.
Apparently it's legal in the unincorporated areas of AL or a town without local prostitution laws.

And you think you know a country!!

When I lived in the US I lived in Pullman, WA. The city was about 10 mins from Idaho, which was also where the nearest shopping mall was.

Well occasionally while there, and anticipating a party that night, we would load up on booze so that we can then head straight home without stopping anywhere else.

6 mths later I find out it's a federal crime to bring alcohol over the border. It's the most ludicrous law I've ever heard. It's one damn country! What do they expect me to do, bring it through customs and pay import duty?

      Cons,

I'm not sure about this, but I think it's only a crime to carry a large amounts of booze from one state to another. It was put in place to keep bootleggers from transporting liquor. I doubt it would have any bearing on the recreational partier taking some booze home.

But then again, I don't know how much you drink

But this country sure is messed up...trying to ban internet gambling, laws against prostitution (the victimless crime)...what's next?

There's still a law on the books that prohibits people from using city roads to drag away their dead horses.

And I know there's a law someplace in the U.S. (read about it but can't remember where) that prohibits a man and a woman from kissing on Sunday.

Also, in Georgia (I remember because of the olympics), oral sex is strictly prohibited.

The question - are these laws actually enforced?

I guess I'll drag my dead horse along Yonge Street and find out.

BTW, that last law was a Toronto city bylaw.

As for the original question, I do know that prostitution is not legal in all areas of Nevada. In Las Vegas prostitution is as illegal as anywhere. If you go to Ny County to the ranches it's a different story although I can't attest to ever having used a prostitute.

The one thing I do remember from my trips to Vegas 12 years ago were the pamphlets handed out on Vegas corners for the brothels with a guarantee of "We'll pick you up in 30 minutes or the service is free".

And I thought that guarantee was only good for pizzas.

WhiteShoes, it is insane that a government can outlaw prostitution. A woman should have the right to to market her body anyway she wants. It should be absolutely no business of the government if a woman wants to exhange sex for dollars.

Regarding protitution in the U.S., I have little interest. I'm through with escort services, Nevada brothels, and street hookers. My U.S. experiences, overall, have not been satisfacory. Generally, it's been too much money for too little performance. Overseas, in places like Asia and Latin America, it is incomparably better.

OK Reno I'll bite (pardon the pun), why is it better over there?

Also on a different note I noticed all the IP's beginning with 24. They used to all be 152. representing AOL but it appears the home network is really picking up steam. I'm wondering if ATHM is a good stock market play?

In Cleveland,Oh.it is illegal to catch mice without a hunting license. Strange but true, and if anyone thinks I'm bluffin' I'll accept a friendly wager.

Hartley, the prostitutes in the U.S. generally have an attitude problem. They are clock watchers who simply want the most money for the least amount of time and effort. They don't truly get involved in the sex. Overseas it is different--especially in Asia. The women there are not mercenaries. Many I had made love to me all night long in a deep and intimate way, just like a girlfriend or wife would.

For guys who love to copulate with hot and giving 18-year olds, Asia is the place.

yeah, the avg. prostitute in america
is likely a drug addict who needs a daily
fix but can't do anything but bonk for
                    a living. It's pretty much a visious
                    cirlce i think......prostitutes probably
end up depending more on drugs simply
because they don't enjoy their "work"...
but they need the fast cash (even a
heroin junky needs 50-100 day) to get the
drugs. If they just made all drugs available
at the HMO for 10 bucks for a months worth,
you'd see a better class of hookers who really enjoy their work....even the avg
legal nevada crotch trader is or was a
                    substance abuser.

Back to my original idea.....all states
and local townships have bizaare laws.
(illegal to use wheelbarows on main street
past 6 pm. on wednesdays, etc)

                    prostitution exists everywhere, but it's
mostly acknowleged only in private. I
was just wondering why Alabama doesn't
have legal whore houses if it's always been legal?

                      A couple of comments:

First of all, the concept that prostitution is illegal (for the most part) in the US defies logic. Why should it be ILLEGAL to sell something that is perfectly LEGAL to give away for free?

Secondly, I don't know about anybody else, but somehow an Alabama hooker does not sound too appealing. Unless, of course, she doesn't have any teeth (a distinct possibility), which might prove somewhat recreational.

btw, i'd wager that somewhere in the
world there is nun being pimped out
                        by her suger daddy priest

seems like prostitution, drugs and what
have you (gambling, and others) are
moral issues. Don't have sex with
anyone except a spouce, don't take heroin,
take these morphine tabs from the HMO instead, don't bet on the cubs to win
50 bucks, put 50 bucks on the lottery
so you can just donate it to the government.

separation of church and state is still
going on....but we've run out of new
                            continents to run to...damn it.

oh well, at least the pokers are back!
