The government is not mainly interested in stopping drugs--which is impossible anyway--it is mainly interested in comprehensive information about your financial life. Segundo-Yes in fact I have worked at one of those places as a boss. And I'm just telling you from the heart that people dont write up SAR's because they are pissed at someone. There is a box on the form for a surveilance photo which should be used, and out of dealing with over 50-100,000 transactions involving cash a year, I am telling you that it is not very common at the two places you listed in you post-really. If it was I would say so. Very uncommon, and those that are written up go to legal, and then even fewer are green-lighted to go to treasury.

This weekend there are police state checkpoints at 4 major intersections in the Las Vegas valley. What do YOU call that?

What do you call a country where every bank teller and ticket clerk is a commissioned government snitch? What do you call a country where the citizens are required to report all of their financial transactions to the government? Reno calls it a Gestapo-ized country, but the truth is that Germany's democratically elected National Socialists never even dreamed of this kind of power.

You ask, "what [am I] doing to free us?" Good question. The most effective thing that I do is leaflet the local courthouse and notify all potential jurors that in our country (unlike in National Socialist Germany), we have a special protection against tyrannical majorities--it's called "trial by jury." I notify the potential jurors that each one of them has the right to VETO statutes that don't square with their consciences--like drug and bet dealing statutes perhaps.

I have volunteered to organize leafletters at gambling statute trials in the past and will be happy to leaflet at your gambling trial(s) should you ever request that I do so.

One of the LEAST effective things that I do (even though I still do it) is vote. They had the vote in Germany and they elected Hitler. The vote doesn't protect you from majority coalitions of rabid church ladies and soccer moms. It doesn't even protect drug and bet dealers from themselves when they sic the state police on each other.

But trial by jury requires UNANIMOUS agreement from a cross section of the community. If they had Jury veto power in National Socialist Germany, the anti-Jew laws could have been thwarted.

All that I need is 1 out of 12 to stop the police state that people like you are responsible for creating in this once free country.

Understand that gambling is the biggest business in the world bar none. It is just not as messy as drugs. What you're saying has some merit you just go too far. All of us should be able to spend our money gambling any way we want. Look at all the lotteries. Talk about scam central. It seems like you were offended when somebody mentioned drug dealers. Why did that bother you so bad? Gambling & drugs are both addictions, the comparisons end there.

On the checkpoints, again I think you're shortsighted. If Officer Friendly, while inspecting your papers, should happen to see that envelope with all of the $100 bills (from all those tickets you just cashed), don't worry Officer Friendly would never think of questioning you about that. Not in the USA. Well not if its less than $3000 at least.

If we lived in a country where the 4th Amendment was held to be an inviolate principle (i.e., no warrant, no search, period), then their would be NO weighing of freedom lost against security gained from police checkpoints and the cancer would never grow to the point of Officer Friendly rummaging through your envelopes and who knows what else.
