  • purchase or cash advance

I like the convenice and easiness that the books have made it to use a credit card on-line to make a deposit and I also feel fairly secure with these transaction. BUT why do some deposits with different books come across as a cash advance as to a purchase. Banks do charge service charges for cash advances.

I would suggest to the books to look into their billing procedure and to see how their charges come across to the banks. I think there is probally a chance that the problem could be with the banks also.

This has become a determining factor as to which books I would use.

    Steve42,
Unfortunately in most cases this is something that the book can not control. It is another perk that the financial institution has in there favor. I can say that here at Sportbet.com and IslandCasino.com has this aspect under control as they are handling charges as purchases and not cash advances...

      Chester,

What books does the credit card deposit come up as a cash advance that you know of?
      Anybody else know of any?

Chester I have used several different cards at the same book and some are treated as cash advances and some are treated as purchases. When I inquired about the difference I was told that it depended on the card issuing bank and not the processor.

Some banks treat Internet transactions as High Risk, therefore they make the extra points by treating the transaction as a cash advance.

chester, when i called sportbet today the operator told me it was handled as a cash advance. This kept my friend from posting funds with your book. If it is a purchase I will make sure to tell him.

I have the same problem when using Western Union. The credit card companies happy treat it as a cash advance which, in reality, I guess it is. That kind of blows most of any posting bonus I get.

Why not just get a VISA check card from your bank (free) and avoid any problem?

Rellekneleh, here are some of my experiences with a couple of books that I have made credit card deposits on-line.
                  Olympic-purchase
                  Premeire-purchase
                  William Hill-cash advance
                  SBG Global-cash advance
Post Time-cash advance (unfortunate, really like this book)

Maybe to some this would not be an issue but for me giving extra money to the bank has.

                      Steve42,
I always try to help whenever I can unfortunately it normally just causes me a lot of grief...

                      Fairfax,
I apologize to your friend and to you I promise that all of our transactions with credit and or check cards are ALWAYS billed as a purchase never as a cash advance.
Some of the banks unfortunately turn this around when it gets to them I would assume solely for the purpose of charging you the cardholder something more.

mls, you are absolutely right. Use a check card and there should never be a transaction charge. I suspect it also costs the sportsbook less in the way of fees.

It depends on credit card company lately citibank has been clasifying oneline gaming transations as cash advance. Chase and now i heard Providian will no longer let you use credit cards for online gaming.

With cash advance fees the way they are now it would be vitually impossible for anyone who plays everyday to make a profit with a cash advance type of transaction.
