My reading of this is, but I'm just guessing here and putting this out to provoke further commentary, that other people in the Antiguan government realized there could be a mass exodus to Costa Rica and told her to cool her jets. As a talented woman with lots of options she decided to apply them elsewhere.

This seems like very good news for the industry.

I disagree with that statement. I don't know Ms. McAllister personally, but I do believe that she had a big hand in making Antiqua what it is today. It's my opinion that this is a major loss to the government there.

Antigua has been a great destination to have for sportsbooks as they are very cooperative with one another and I honestly believe that if anyone of them failed, they would buy them out and pick up the accounts.

I know from everyone's posts here that English and Australian books are the absolute safest, but I personally felt just as safe with my money in the Antiguan books with Ms. McAllister at the helm.

I really believe she helped lay the groundwork to make Antigua the model that others tried to emulate. Curacao now is very strong in that area, meaning not tolerating any nonsense from no-pays.

Costa Rica, although housing many fine books, has absolutely no spirit of community as far as no-pays go, and I speak from personal experience. Until CR cleans up its act, they will always be a distant third.

And it's a shame, because so many solid and fine books reside there and they are paying the price because of the no-pays.

i agree with boomer. maybe its wishful thinking on my part but i remember her on a special (cbs i believe ) standing up to the United States aand explaining that antigua is a sovereign nation and to hell with the u.s.
it always stuck in my mind.
no matter how you feel about gyneth, she had the best interest of antigua at heart.
i have spoken to her numerous times and she was very excited about her position and the possibilities of improving antigua's position in the gaming world. BEST WISHES TO GYN!

I can also see "j"'s point: that there were proposals on the table to add a lot of detailed reporting and oversight by some governing body (Antigua). And then there was the prospect of additional taxes . . .
